Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nenagh judge calls for more Gardai at court sittings

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath has called for more Gardai to attend court sittings after last Friday’s court in Nenagh had to be suspended due to a disturbance.

The court had been sitting for around five minutes when there was an exchange of words between a number of defendants with one being heard to call another person a “rat”. There were just two sergeants in court at the time and both were occupied with prosecuting offences.

Judge MacGrath later called for more Gardai to control the crowd in the courtroom. “It is unfair on people who are here to have to put up with it (the disturance),” she said. The court resumed after a 20-minute break.

Meanwhile, the Gardaí have confirmed that they are following up on a report of an alleged assault at Nenagh Courthouse the previous day in which a man is said to have received a punch to the jaw.

So now we need more Gardai in the courts. The scumbags have taken over and the Gardai can only sit back and watch. No respect for the law and the court. Judge MacGrath should have held them all in contempt of court.

Nenagh was once such a quiet mid sized town. The M7 and high rents in the past 5 years in Limerick have brought in a load of scumbags families to the town. Social cleansing.

The guards should be out in the streets catching criminals, not sitting around in court.

Will the court be relying on hearsay and conjecture rather than Garda evidence when cases are being heard then?

How can they possibly have more Guards in the courts? Their numbers have drastically depleted in the last 7 Years and sure the one's that are left are too busy with more important stuff than attending court......like escorting ministers in and out of ploughing Championships and standing outside Leinster house in case the people are revolting:)
