Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Irish Conspiracy Theories

    Hi Everyone,

I'm sure someone tried to do this before but I have not seen this topic in the last few pages so here goes. What are the conspiracy theories relating to Ireland that you have heard of? For example:

    1. Michael Collins was shot by a dum-dum round from behind (possibly by his driver)
    2. Our friendly masonic "brothers" instigated the 1798 rebellion in order to create a new masonic state akin to France (Secret and Silent Men of 1798, James Caulfield, for a wider discussion)
    3. Dublin occult grid

    Can anyone add to this?

    IRA run by MI5/6.
I've spouted this theory now and then over the years, but I think it might be a fairly well established idea these days.

Apparently Dublin is a bit like DC, full of occult, masonic symbolism and the streets also form signs when seen from above. There is a book on this I believe, but I hope a fellow boardie can remember the title.

I found one with a google search anyway.

In a similar vein, that the Kincora scandal was M15 attempt to rein in the DUP for blackmail purposes. If so, was unsuccessful, as seemingly of the loyalists implicated as being child abusers (and, according to some claims, British aristocracy also) none in DUP directly so.

The conspiracy theory that Liam Lawlor was assassinated due to knowledge he had of corruption might be another one. Doubtful on it myself, but it is intriguing.

Fr Ted was created to destroy the catholic church. Seeing the situation the CC is in now you'd have to wonder..

It's not really a conspiracy theory, just plain old arson..

I kind of suspect the Catholic Church in Ireland was destroyed by protecting child abusers within its ranks rather than a comedy show.

Has been a lot of those since the property bust...just a co-incidence, nothing to worry about, move along, as David Icke would put it. :p

I'd say the comedy show helped a lot though. Wasn't what's his name a freemason? The main actor as Father Ted.

Actually, some people on the internet believe that Dermot Morgan was killed by the illuminati because of his criticism of irish elites through his comedy. As proof, they can point to the fact that the illuminati left their calling card - the all-seeing-eye - on his memorial chair in Merrion Square.

As for genuine conspiracies, the systemic collusion between the state and the Catholic church in the exploitation of children and women under their care, amongst other things, which has been slowly uncovered over the past few decades, was an actual collaboration kept hidden from the public, with attempts at whistleblowing silenced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

The Fr Niall Molloy cover up deserves a mention, although there is no question of it being a cover up. Hopefully what really happened is revealed soon.

A theory of mine is that both Martin Cahill and Veronica Guerin were murdered by the state because of the Fr Niall Molloy case. I have arguments that supports this theory I just need to get them right before I put them forward.

His barrister, Paddy McEntee, also represented Malcolm MacArthur (he of GUBU infamy) in his original sentencing (Michael McDowell was junior counsel on the team).

Seems to have worked for both sides though!

He worked in the Veronica Guerin case, defending Paul Ward, and I found this case online - defending a guy who was operating an unlicensed "bureau de change", with a turnover of €17m in 2002 (no idea how much that would be now), from an industrial estate in Dundalk.

The IRA imports 80% of all the heroin and cocaine into Ireland.

Instead of bringing in guns they now bring in drugs.

This is why republicans attacked the head shops because they were cutting into their business.

    What's the deal with Develra...

escaped prison with a romantic story of casting a key from candlewax or soap!
    escaped execution
seemed to play up to nationalists and hardliners yet his actions played into the hands of the british...
    kept us economically backwards
had no idea what was happening with the negotiations in London and then isolated the negotiators..
    pro church

    was he a double agent?

More than likely, I can think of one or two modern day "republicans" that are similar.

If you'd heard his response to Churchill's speech on Irish neutrality during WWII you might think differently about that theory

You can hear it here, all 7 minutes of it.

Biffo was a clown no doubt, but not in the same league. We were on the brink of being a failed state until Lemass/Whitaker saved us and in the nick of time.

High ranking double agents no doubt but doubt if IRA was ever completely M15-controlled.

I have my doubts as to whether an M15 controlled organisation would attempt, and almost succeed, in assassinating entire British cabinet, or bomb the Square mile.

The Liam Lawler one has always been suspicious to me, just before it happened he publicly announced that he would name and take down every corrupt politician, judge and business men colluding with the state, then he dies in a car crash in Russia that had all the hallmarks of a KGB hit. The "interpreter" that was with him has never talked about it. Gagged maybe?

CAB were doing some proper work for once. The Tribune no longer exists but available from here
Lawlor's millions face seizure in major CAB probe
    STEPHEN COLLINS POLITICAL EDITOR
Liam Lawlor is the first political figure to come under scrutiny of CAB, which has the power to seize illegally acquired assets
THE Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) has begun an investigation into the source of Liam Lawlor's wealth, The Sunday Tribune has learned. Lawlor is the first political figure to come under scrutiny by CAB which has the power to seize illegally acquired assets.

Senior CAB officers attended the planning tribunal during the week after the disclosure that Lawlor was involved in money laundering.

The tribunal heard how a money laundering investigation by Ulster Bank led to the tribunal discovering the existence of Lawlor's offshore bank account in Liechtenstein.

Tribunal lawyers revealed that the operation came to light when Ulster Bank spotted a fake transaction organised by Lawlor which involved a £50,000 foreign lodgement to the account of a local taxi driver.

Tribunal lawyers also expressed their belief that Lawlor holds millions of euro in offshore accounts.

Following the revelations, the head of CAB, chief superintendent Felix McKenna, sent some of his officers to the tribunal to begin collecting evidence for an investigation into the former Fianna Fáil TD's wealth.

CAB, which last year seized assets worth more than 30m, conducted a successful operation against another key planning tribunal witness, former assistant Dublin city manager, George Redmond.

He was detained at Dublin airport on his return from the Isle of Man with a suitcase containing over 150,000.

CAB would have difficulty seizing any funds held by Lawlor in offshore accounts, but he still owns a valuable property on almost 20 acres of land at Somerton House near Lucan.

This property is believed to be worth between 15m and 20m.

The planning tribunal and Lawlor's own lawyers have already sought to recoup fees from Lawlor by seeking judgements against Somerton. Justice Feargus Flood initiated three separate sets of proceedings to recover money from the property beginning back in October 2000.

The tribunal case to force the sale of land at Somerton to realise 430,000 owed to it in legal fees came before the Master of the High Court last Friday.

A decision was adjourned until October. The taxing master has already made a judgement against Lawlor for 630,000 in an action taken against him for non-payment of fees by his own lawyers.

The former TD claims he has no money to pay his various debts but the tribunal does not believe him. The Revenue Commissioners are also interested in Lawlor. Tax officials were among the throng who attended the hearings in Dublin Castle last week to listen to the latest revelations.

Lawlor has done three stints in jail for failing to cooperate with the tribunal and is likely to face another term as the tribunal chairman, Judge Alan Mahon has accused him of telling lies in the course of his evidence.

The CAB investigation is the most serious threat to Lawlor's future at this stage. The bureau had its most successful year in 2002, seizing more assets than it had done in the previous five years of its existence.

CAB was established as one of the central planks of the drive to crack down on organised crime in the wake of Veronica Guerin's murder. Ironically, Lawlor, as a TD at the time, voted in the Dáil in favour of establishing the bureau.

Lawlor's associates, solicitor John Caldwell and gaming arcade owner, Jim Kennedy, have fled the country since the planning tribunal began its investigations and while there has been repeated speculation that Lawlor would do the same, he has stood his ground to date.
