Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We are in for a long period of settled, pretty warm and much sunnier weather from Friday onward. High pressure firmly in control. Should be really pleasant.

We can hold off on the heating bills :)

The difference in the weather in Dublin in one hour as seen above sums up the views on this forum this summer!

    It clouded over....simple as that!

Was a stunning morning in Dublin, with clear blue skies. Around lunchtime it clouded over/became overcast.

Same in Wicklow. Stunning morning, genuinely warm in the sun. Clouded over, misty drizzle now.

Bit annoying to see the usual suspects claiming differing weather outlooks, at different times of a particular day at a certain location is evidence of some forum wide conspiracy or people being delusional!

Still only one dry day here since the start of August, dying for a few dry days to get some outdoor work done so here's hoping

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭smallwonder

Shorts on a sunny beach run this morning. The rain and wind came through around 11 and I had the stove on by 3pm. Roll on this flipping High!

Hopefully the fine spell isn't spoiled by something.

If that materialises, if we get a nice storm and a rather wintry November then I'd be very happy with Autumn 2019 but that's a big ask, especially the storm (from a Dublin perspective) and wintry-ish November!

So far, September has been a bit below average in my opinion but not too bad.

The same, the last fully dry day was the 2nd of August.

Like a real winters night in Galway...heavy rain earlier and the strong gusty winds continue...

after a lovely start this morning, today went downhill quickly. Not enough rain here to wet the ground but it's really chilly this evening.

    10pm

    Very mild out:
    Shannon 17 degrees
    Finner 17 degrees
(Most other stations at 16 degrees)

Hmmmm....not arguing about the temperatures.... but when it's accompanied by rain and strong gusty wind I wouldn't call it "very mild"!

Incredibly mild in Cork and not a breathe of wind. Bone dry too.

Loud heavy deluges in the night and high winds and trying t o repeat that now, with horizon to horizon cloud. Very cool..

Ex-Tropical feeling here in Wicklow this morning- definite change in airmass from yesterday evening, warm and humid. Any rain we've had here lately seems to have been in small amounts and has fallen during night time hours. Hard to believe others are saying there hasn't been a dry day in their area since early August! For a small country we sure do get big variations.

Today will be a bright and dry day in most places with variable cloud and good spells of sunshine and just a few passing light showers. Moderate or fresh west breezes. Highest temperatures 16 to 19 degrees - warmest in the south.

Wrong. Its drizzling all morning here....AGAIN

They've covered their arse with the 'most' places bit I guess.

Turned into a lovely afternoon here in cork city after a rotten morning. Roasting in the sun and no breeze!

nice afternoon here in Meath, feeling mild and some spells of sunshine.

Warmth from ex Dorian gave a 17.1c AWS reading at 2.37am. Very little rain from it which is unusual considering that nocturnal warmth! Interestingly that was the highest temperature of September 10th (10am》10am).

Breezy with sunny spells now in South Laois with temperatures around 17c.

    And there’s it is
The “nice spell from Friday “ is already downgrading by the day
Heavy rain all day Sunday now

Yep, latest models with both GFS and ECM showing an area of rain pushing into the west this weekend. Why am I not surprised?

i think downgrades were very likely, the charts from a few days ago were stunning. The west and north-west could get a dry day on Friday but it will turn unsettled there from Saturday night into Sunday and looks like damp and cloudy conditions will persist there for much of next week.

The south and east could stay dry for the next 10 days, but even there Sunday's rain may still cross the country. As for temperatures low to mid 20's is definitely off the table at this stage, a few places may still reach 20C over the next few days, but most places staying in the mid to high teens.

Our new climate in Sligo seems to be January to July a few good months a few bad months

August to December rain every day

I knew the high pressure was a joke. Long dry sunny spells are as rare as snow. So 2018 broke the trend but so did 2010 for snow.

The trend is for drying though so we may get a few cloudy days with no drizzle in October when its 12c

Honestly can't remember the last proper sunny day in the NW, we've had the odd sunny morning or evening here and there but always fleeting and short lived. Do you know if we had one in Spring at all?

Not the worst day today in Letterkenny but as always some rain and drizzle and plenty of cloud. Friday now looks like our only hope of a dry day and even then I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with cloud and drizzle

Well. Put it this way. This is the time I would be out for an early walk with the cats, meandering the silent lanes picking berries and gazing out at the ocean.

Sheeting with sideways deluges and gusts of ferocious wind... Not kind! So no outing but jam making will go ahead with berries already gathered .

Still no contact with Canada east coast extended faith family since Dorian and cannot even make meaningful phone contact with the Sunshine Coast folk.

Gabrielle is not dead yet either

A day to snuggle not struggle.. the cats have the right idea. Asleep!

I remember you saying in April or May that you were getting dry and sunny conditions with the hope that’s not your summer for the year. Look how that turned out.

Had a look through photos and I have some from 31st March, 22nd April and 6th of May with cloudless skies, guess we did have a few in Spring at least!

And for what it's worth, a miserable wet, drizzly morning here again
