Hip Hop Evolution

Watching this on Netflix. The third season just came out and they are getting into a lot of stuff that I've never heard of before. It is a good history, very thorough and done well to separate it into different aspects. I'd recommend it for hip hop fans wanting to learn more.

I've watched the first 2 and enjoyed it. Shad is such a lovable guy and very endearing to who he is interviewing.
I'll be watching the 3rd season soon, just trying to wrap up watching a few other things first.

I agree that Shad is a great interviewer. He doesn't seem to lead people on, he just sits back and lets them get on with it.

I haven't been up to date with Mos Def/Yasiin Bey but he's interviewed in season three and he doesn't seem to be doing well at all.

Guys, what do you think of old school hip hop? Don't you miss it? What are your thoughts on nowadays hip hop?

Watched Season 3, really good coverage of the East and West coast beefs and how the South got involved.
The bits on Junior Mafia and Outkast were brilliant.

@TooGars - I love old school rap, but I also love modern day hip hop as well. It's diverse and there is always something new cropping up. It's harder to find it though through the over commercialism of hip hop and soundcloud rappers.
I just heard a new guy called David Bars and he is dope.

@Halloween Jack - Yasiin Bey I believe is doing just fine. Something that me and the lads discussed the other night, why is he never in the top 5, top 10, top 50 discussions?

Love it. Don't really need to miss it b/c I'm often listening to it more than current hip-hop.
