Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tubridy sat in for Graham Norton on his BBC Radio 2 Saturday morning show for the summer months a couple of years ago and he was a disaster. The reaction from listeners was all negative

That was his escape plan all along and the arse fell out of it so now he’s stuck in montrose.

Whether it was contrived or genuine, Gay Byrne appeared to give the impression he had an actual interest in the person he was interviewing and what they were saying. My feeling on it is, it was mostly genuine. I doubt you could keep up that charade for over 40 years on TV and radio. He was a people person and liked to get at what made them tick. So he was tailor made for his job.

On the Late late show, (I don't hate myself enough to listen to his radio programme) Tubs appears to have no interest in his interviewees bar getting through the procedural side of 2 hours of live TV. He's forever clock watching or looking at people behind the scenes when he's supposed to be listening to his guest and formulating a reply based on their input. This is why he sticks so rigidly to questions and never deviates.

I agree the 'intellectual book worm' thing is total bollocks too. If he was such an intellectual, why the hell doesn't he have the odd panel debate about the hot button issues of the day, which is what the LLS made it's name on. Nah, easier to roll out Nathan Carter again before the weekly misery slot!
