One of the players being targeted had a twitter account created using pics readily available....and it seems he started receiving abuse on his actual twitter account because of this...
The fake account was reported and removed...
So far I think some of the individuals affected have made complaints to to the gardai

    This,
Any of seen were fake(a real and usually verified page existed) and made using readily avabilable pictures that the real profiles published.

The fake profiles then contacted real people(female) and others and made pretty downright awful comments ppand stuff.

Going to the guards is 100% the right move on Munster and players part. It’s been happening since before Christmas, seemingly went too far in past month

I've seen the material. A quick review of the profiles compared to those currently active shows that the players' profiles don't appear to be fake either. I say 'appear' because I have no way of being certain.

Put it this way, if the social media / group chat exchanges have been faked, someone went to a massive amount of effort to make them look authentic.

The description of the nature of the complaints made to the Guards sounds very much like someone is trying to get ahead of the story and control what happens next. Its a risky strategy all the same the old 'whatever you see and whatever you hear is harassment of X and Y cos we said so and that's all there is to it'

Fake chats are composed all the time right? As per the memes.

Anyone on here ever use the park and ride service from the south court to thomond park how reliable is it?

Only used it two or three times which were all years ago but it was reliable enough

If you're going tonight, you can park around the Ennis Rd. I wouldn't use park and ride unless it was close to a sellout game.

Be careful, the last Munster game, over 100 tickets were given out by the guards for illegally parked car's.

I have started clamping illegally parked cars in my estate and its great because the guards won't get involved, despite all the grand standing for the owner of such cars

I presume its a private estate (not in charge of the Council) and not a public road?

If you, or anyone else not an authorised agent of the Council or the Gardaí, clamped me on the public road, I'd knock your block off then make you wear the clamp as a medallion for a week.

Yes for the violence but he could cut the clamp of and there’s nothing you could do about it.

No new injury concerns after Zebre. Irish internationals back. Joey Carbery and Ciaran Parker will be reintegrated to team training this week as they complete their rehab from respective hamstring injuries.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg) and Tommy O’Donnell (shoulder).

Looks like we need Joey but I hope playing him isn't the last throw of the dice as I'd prefer we give him the time he needs to recover.

We can't afford a slow start v Edinburgh and we're often slow starters with early kick offs, I'm nervous thinking about it.

Nervous for this one as well. If Joey doesn't make it, I'd hope Bleyendaal gets the nod at 10, even tho he has limited game time there this season.

Yeah unless he's fully fil no point stating him, wouldn't do him or Munster any good to have to come off early.

Yeah and even with Leinster scoring first try against them the other night, they still lost. Edinburgh will be well up for it. Good thing is we usually lift our performances for CC matches. And there will probably be nearly as many Munster fans in Murrayfield as Edinburgh. Think JVG said we won our qf by a point last season so would take that result again this time out.

    Or Murray? If he starts.

Also an option. Though I think Scannell has a better boot, and to be honest, the way Murray has been playing lately I'd rather he just concentrated on getting his form back in his regular jobs.

Jaco Taute - possibly Leicester Tigers
    Ronan O'Mahony

Brilliant news on both. Matthewson extension makes sense with the RWC. Guess with McCarthy coming in it doesn't look great for Williams and Hart. Whatever about Williams, don't think Hart has played much this season at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

I'm delighted with the news on Mathewson. If McCarthy and/or Casey/Stafford can step up during the RWC, Munster can let Mathewson walk after the RWC. If they don't, then perhaps Mathewson can be retained for the season as Botha and Cloete will be the only other NIEs on the books.

I reckon O'Mahony will be picked up fairly quickly. William's may retire.
Taute will leave now. He's buried. He was very good last season. Shame he was injured.

Sexton 34 this July, wonder does this signing mean he might play on until Lions Tour in 2021. Or equally have no bearing whatsoever on when he's due to retire..

I think the whole point of his extension was to make the 2021 Lions tour. We'll see.

Interesting that Carbery extension is another 2 years a year out.
