Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think so, and it's already up to Cat. 4 strength. No threat to land, but I wouldn't want to be on a ship in that area.

Nearing cat 5 strength now alright with wind speeds reaching 250 km/h. There are no coastal watches as it's far out at sea. It's currently moving very slowly nnw and expected to weaken between now and tuesday.

"Nearing" is right: according to Weather Underground, max wind speeds are 155mph, and Cat. 5 is 156+mph.

Hurricane Amanda still a strong cat 3. Weakening is expected in the next 48 hours, when it's expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm.

Seems early enough alright. However the NHC deems the eastern Pacific hurricane season as starting on 15th May each year, as opposed to the Atlantic one starting on June 1st.
