Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there VRT export available for motorbikes?

I had always assumed there was .... but reading this, it sounds like it is not:

    https://www.revenue.ie/en/importing-vehicles-duty-free-allowances/guide-to-vrt/export-repayment-scheme/what-is-the-vrt-export-repayment-scheme.aspx
What is the VRT Export Repayment Scheme?
This scheme allows a vehicle owner to claim repayment of the ‘residual’ Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) when exporting the vehicle. The owner is the person listed on the National Vehicle Driver File (NVDF) at the time the vehicle is examined. If you are unsure that you are the registered owner, please contact the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

To be eligible the vehicle must:

be a passenger car, for example: a saloon, hatchback or Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
    be registered in the State
have a valid National Car Test (NCT) or Commercial Vehicle Certificate
    and
    be VRT paid.

    ?

    Tom

I'd certainly expect it to be, and would ask.

That said the amount of VRT you'd get back is small. What age/model is the bike ? it's not vehicle OMSP related remember, for bikes it's a flat rate per cc....irrespective of the bikes value....

Other pages seem to reference M1 class only, forms themselves don’t.
I’m not optimistic but looks like I’ll need to make a call.

2018 937cc so the guts of a grand.

Applus/NCTS said no to VRT Export for a Motorcycle
The owner of an EU Classification M1 Passenger vehicle (saloon, hatchback, SUV, MPV etc) may claim a VRT repayment where a vehicle has been permanently removed or exported from the State, and where VRT has been previously charged on a Revenue VRT Category A basis.

Only Passenger Vehicles (EU Classification M1) are eligible for this repayment

    https://www.vrt.ie/faq/vrt-export-repayment-overview/

    Shame. And stupid.
