Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With the majority of us now in the game, I hope you all have a great time playing and we will hopefully meet you in some warzones, or catch a few of you when you are questing :P

so whats the game like? just another wow copy or is actually a good game? i loved kotor 1+2 but seeing as this is a mmo is the story crap?

It feels like KOTOR crossed with WoW; KOTOW, if you will. I like it so far, looking forward to getting to play for a decent length of time, I'm a Sith Inquisitor. I'm only level 3, so I don't know about the story yet!

After you enter your code and sec token thingy you should get your stuff straight away if you are in game already. If not there is a thread in the customer support forums where some people havent gotten their things. You should post in there and / or open an ingame ticket. For anyone straggling making a decision - If you enjoyed Kotor and would like it to be on a bigger scale, get it.

I got mine after an hour or so, but they did arrive. Haven't gone to see the CE store yet.

It's pretty much a new KOTOR game that's more action orientated. At the moment, I've been playing it just like a singleplayer game. I've only levelled 3 characters to about lvl 11 at the moment, and so their stories are only really getting started, but they're well written so far. It's worth getting, even if it's only for a month to see how it plays.

Loving the game. Got my Merc to lv12 last night. Did some pvp just for xp reward but soon loved it and kept queuing. Handy for leveling crew skills as well as you just send off companion while you pvp.

Has anyone bought a retail copy and then been able to play, or will it not work until the 20th?

It wont work until the 20th you can input your code online now but you need Early access to play before tuesday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,548 ✭✭✭Draupnir

Turns out none of my machines want to play the game too well, so I've put in an order for a new machine that should be available early next week. Bit of a waste of an early access pass really, but I suppose I can spend more time working out what kind of classes I want to roll.

I did manage to log in last night briefly, but the game was dog slow. Basilisk Droid looked to have a heavy queue going, doesn't bode well for general release.

Every game like this had had queues at release i would worry about it they are releasing allot of new server today , hopefully that will ease the server queues more

Sure, I'm sure it will be fine. I won't be losing any sleep over it, I'd like to play on the same server as some Boardsies though.

I understand that man i crashed back to the queue last night three times took three hours to get in

well if this game feels like kotor and has a decent narrative for the characters (ive heard its a different story for every character?) il have to buy it :D god knows how il get time to play it with skyrim mind, that game is literally sucking my life away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

each character class has its own specific story. They're all different :)

Bioware are legends for really good storytelling in their games. This is no exception.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,411 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

yeah ive been a fan of bioware since baulders gate, DA2 has shaken my faith in them though

Wonderful game. Currently on lvl 14, plowing through Coruscant at the minute. Love the Flashpoints and warzones, great fun.

Yes the game comes with a month free game-time BUT you will need a 60 day game card or a credit card attached to your account for it to work, similar as RIFT(from what i've heard)

Quite a few of us are playing on Basilisk Droid so i'm going to suggest that there are players on imperial and republic from boards, in terms of classes i'm not too sure its up to yourself.

Most of us seem to be on Basilisk Droid. Depends on how you want to play, but there's a shortage on tanks and healers. Nearly everyone is going DPS as usual. Also, depends on whether you want to be a Jedi/Sith or not

Ah i see, sadly I just got the boxed copy no extra things, would it be (long shot) on the receipt?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,900 ✭✭✭V9

Ah and it begins... The queues... An hour before I get in

  • Registered Users Posts: 97 ✭✭KINGPIN

Yah alot of irish on basilisk droid, its why i rolled there. I think its worth sticking with even with the server queues. They will go over time !

As for advice play whatever you want and have fun !

Im trying all classes up to around lvl 14 to get a feel for em before I progess futher.

Apparently the first few level 50's have appeared now 4 days before games release. I have a funny feeling there will be super large portion of the hardcore MMO fans leaving after the first sub if they v managed to already get this far in a few days. Quite sad really on their part.

I got to level 25 in 3 or 4 days but that was SOLID play. I played for a totally stupid amount of time to be honest. I can only imagine what these lvl 50 guys must have done timewise to reach that in the 4 or 5 days early access has been open. That's insane to be honest. Level 25 was a real grind and I reached it with about 40 hours of play so these guys must literally not have stopped since launch. I vowed not to bother doing that when early access came around.

Also DONT FORGET YOUR SECURITY QUESTION ANSWERS. Biggest load of ****e having to ring an English number just to get your account unlocked. The number is always busy and you can't get through to even queue to talk to someone. Awful customer service. The online guys can't do it for you at all they just direct you to the phone number.

Security Questions are the biggest load of **** in the world. The fact is the undermine the word security ! Why any company thinks it's smart to use them is beyond me.

so is there many different planets? are they big open spaces or small little game areas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,020 ✭✭✭Ry

They're very big. Bloody huge actually. The nightmare is not getting a mount until lvl 25 to get around the place faster :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,411 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

ye think this game will do well? theres pretty much endless possibilities for adding in content after release, pod racing, swoop bikes, more planets etc. could be a great game if it takes off

It all depends on quickly they can add content in which we have no idea how fast that will go. If they manage to get it out as fast as Rift did then there's some good hope but with the extra time it takes to do all the dialogue for quests I can imagine that any new content will be very long in the making.

Lads, can you help me out on this a wee bit.

i was not fallowing this as after wow i lost my intrest in mmorpg. ( it was fun ride, but i am bored now )

i know its similar to WOW, but i was wondering is there sinlge player content like old wow? where if i am not interested in grinding dungoens for 5 millions time, can i still do some fun stuff in outside world? like some epic quest chains or just interesting crafting?

I want to give this a go, but i really dont want to get to wow syndrome. where i have to level up, then just grind gear in 5 mans, then just sit in SW or orgy, just because i dont have time for Raiding.

From what iv seen it looks like you could play the game without having to rely on other people since you have a companion and all that. Best thing to do is wait a month after release and you'll know better whether you want it or not.

    Hi,

Have people been able to buy the game in the shops already? I have a pre order at Gamestop for the collectors edition. I was given early access on the first day, but I have not used it because I can't download 20+ gigabytes so I didn't use it. I thought it was not coming out until Tuesday 20th, but in Cork city here today I saw someone with the big collectors edition box in a Gamestop bag. Does anyone know if they are giving it out already?

I must admit to not enjoying an mmo this much since i first played wow when it was first released.
Ive played everything releasd since but none were as good as this.
Long way to go but so far its a superb MMO.

You buy them in Gamestop. They're exactly like the World of Warcraft game cards. Pay €25 and they give you this little scratch card with a code on it. You can top up your play time on your account with them and it gives you 60 days game time.
