Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It’s true. I’m now immune to orange juice so have to find an alternative vitamin C source.

Luckily, those nice supplement companies provide me with lots of expensive alternatives.

That sounds like very suspect advice (the bit about building up immunity to anything). Are you sure this was a qualified pharmacist and not some "homeopathic" or "holistic" one?

The Pharmacist was spot on. Tolerance can build up after continuous use of a medication. The receptors the drug binds to become desensitized to the presence of the drug & don't work as well, leading to less of the drug being up-taken.

As for their advice re. Vitamin tolerance, it's a new one to me. It doesn't make much sense. (Unless you're taking Pharmaton) The body will only absorb what it needs. Most people don't need a daily vitamin unless your Dr has told you about a deficiency after a blood test. There's no real harm in it though, at worse you'll have expensive wee!

And when you do get a cold you'll tell yourself it would have been worse if you hadn't been taking zinc tablets...

Best cure for the cold is to wait it out. Works almost 100% of the time.

Anecdotal evidence based on personal testimony doesn't produce such reliable numbers. At least 90% of statistics are made up.

If all that doesnt work to prevent it - a big mug of grated ginger , garlic, honey, lemon and hot water will fix you right up

Hot whiskeys are great. After being flat out drinking them for 4 or 5 days your cold is gone and you can't remember having one

2 tablespoons of cod liver oil daily.

    FLU time line..

First day, horrendous, cant get off the bed. MONDAY
second day, still almost as bad but can take hot drinks and maybe soup.
third day, can come out of bed for soup and maybe light brekkie, back to bed.
fourth day can eat normal food and binge watch game of thrones under blanket
    with intermittent non interrupted naps
5th Day FRIDAY, No work tomorrow so you really can relax even more . Progress now gauged by recovery time between **** on pornhub!!
3 **** and you're better, you're foolin nobody... back to work monday, back to gym following monday.

Personally I know I'll pick up maybe one, possibly 2, headcolds in a year. I accept it, but equally I tend to throw them off in a couple of days. I think that's because my immune system has had plenty of practice

The only thing I now actively try and avoid is the flu. I've never had it, but now take the view I may as well have the jab, which I've done for the past 2 winters. It does not guarantee anything but even if you do get the flu I'm told it is likely to significantly ease the symptoms
