Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Had my first pint in a real glass in a real pub yesterday. Felt like a Christmas night out (even though it was the afternoon, sunny & warm and in June:D), everyone was giddy with excitement and in great form!

We went to the zoo on Friday, cracking weather for it too & with most schools not off it was busy but not too busy if that makes sense. Hadnt been to the zoo since 2019 and really enjoyed going back. Its incredibly well set up & other than the indoor areas being closed everything else was pretty much the same. Kids had a ball of a time which meant mum n dad did too!

Also, got my ticket for the game on Friday sorted which means I actually get to go to a match for the first time since March 2020!! To say its like the last few days before christmas is an understatement, i'm like a kid waiitng on santa basically!! Weather should be decent for the week for the most part so even with work being mental its starting to feel like normal is within touching distance.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Nice. Love the Zoo, is so different now to what it was like when I was a kid! The African plains is my favorite area.

    What match you go to?

Its a different arrangement completely from going there in the late 70's early 80's thats for sure. Its more than doubled in size overall in that time too.

Heading to Rovers v Harps on Friday, its one of the test events so we can have 1000 people attend. We have 2 more lined up too but the expectation is that numbers will be able to increase as the summer progresses, assuming all goes to plan and we dont get a spike in case numbers/hospitalisations.

    Its great, isn't it? :)

Always know the 8th of June is 200 to go because it's my Dad's birthday today.
I also know that Sept 16th is 100 days to go for no reason whatsoever ha ha

I was like that. The fact that my sister and her oh (both in their earlier 40s) got their data before me really drove me crazy, though my colleague hasn't been called yet and she's 50. It makes no sense!

    We're into the 190's,
Over the next 100 days we'll hopefully have a good Summer.
We'll have sporting event, longest day of the year, August Bank Holiday.
When we'll enter the second of the 100's we'll hopefully see Christmas bits arrive in the shops.
Then the schools will go back, programs start for the Autumn on TV and the days will get a bit shorter and by mid September we'll be into double digits.

I find with the evenings when you’ve a warm Summers day and your out in it and later in the evening of it.
You sort of look back on these and It can often feel endless and bright for a lot longer than it is.
    If that makes sense.

A bit grey in Galway, not sure if the sun will come out or if it's going to make a few drops... Glad we got out early in the day for a hike :) looking forward to having a lazy day now.

Overcast pretty much all day here in Dublin West, very humid though... heat seems worse because of that, love the heat, the humidity you can keep... beats the cold and rain we had far to much of in May though.

Got an hour or two of sunshine here in the afternoon, so sat out with an ice cream, and read my book for a while. Not a bad way to round off the weekend. :)

I just bought a cheap Christmas tree on Amazon.
I've no idea when it will come.
We need a new on this year and if I see nothing else it will do.

Was it this one by any chance?.... a ridiculous price of a fiver after the VAT reduction.

40 c here yesterday with 80% humidity, the technical term is 'manky'.

I officially broke this morning, I listened to We need a little Christmas now podcast. It was a good one, when does the Christmas feeling start for you.

I used to meet all my pals in the same place, day and time each year on the 23rd December to celebrate altogether, it started well over a decade ago now and has changed from a massive day/ night into a chilled day with some shopping with kids in tow. We have a special name for it. Anyway being me I usually send the facebook invite six months in advance, making the invite festive with pictures and Christmas videos. I haven't been on facebook in a while so I think I will just to a whatsapp group. So I will be sending it out next week, the start of my Christmas feeling. (I haven't made the last two, covid and working abroad made it impossible)

Probably had the least Christmasy day imaginable yesterday. Was in shorts and t-shirt all day, had two paddling pools on the go in the back garden so spent most of the day having water fights :D

I havent stopped listening to christmad podcasts TBH. Not listening as frequently as I would later in the year but am up to date on we need a little christmas & merry britsmas so have been listening to tinsel tunes a good bit as I like the historical info associated with music anyway so find his podcasts interesting for the most part. One or 2 of them a week on top of my other sports podcasts keep me ticking along nicely.

Office here this morning is already hot & sticky... not gonna be a pleasant day in here if it gets any warmer or humid... though its positively winter in comparison to what you're dealing with over there.

Nah, should have won, but, could have lost it at the end too so not overly disappointed, but TBH just being back in the stands, cheering on the team and seeing friends was fantastic. Fingers crossed by the end of the season crowds will be back as close to normal as possible across all sporting codes.

Was great getting to coach my sons team on Saturday morning too, their first match in 15 months and after a slow starts you'd think they'd never stopped... was great seeing so many kids out getting stuck in and playing their hearts out... gave me a real buzz to see it back.

I've been claiming this since I was a child, but I am NOT BUILT for summer. I think I have the opposite of Seasonal Affective Disorder where the sunshine and heat just makes me anxious...?

Anyway that's probably the reason I'm such a Christmas lover!!

Me too. I spent years working in construction and give me a cold day over a hot day anytime when your grafting.
My face goes a lovely shade of red in the sun and I swear I run at a hotter temperature than most as the wife often says to me that she can feel the heat off me.
My birthday is the week before Christmas, the cold doesn't bother me and love Christmas so like yourself winter on the way would not make me too anxious.
I know someone who suffers with SAD and its a horrible thing though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,828 ✭✭✭Jude13

Ditto, once summer hits here I become easily aggravated, its just too hot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,488 ✭✭✭✭DvB

I'm a little different, I love the heat, takes well into the mid-high 30's before I'm uncomfortable, BUT, i hate humidity... clammy warm weather is a real killer, a dry heat is lovely, but throw in humidity and I'm practically a walking puddle...
