Ok whats the story with insurance, is it better to go through a broker or are you better off by yourself? and if you do use a broker do you have to pay them?

ring them all - sometimes they can be cheaper and sometimes not.
They will offer you a price for insurance and you pays them this price then if you accept the offer.

Beware of brokers. Some are muppets. I was stiffed by one this year, he refused to give me my cert. Was only after reporting his ass to the Irish Financial Regulatory Authourity did I get anywhere. Turns out that he never sent the papers to the insurance company.

Websites tend to be cheapest as they have the lowest overhead for the broker / insurer.
