Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Replacing window with cladding

I have a window currently overhead our front door. Front door is on the north side of the house so very little sunshine and cold radiates from having this large window.

My wishlist would be to have copper cladding overhead the door and insulate the inside. Is it possible to do work like this and leave the existing window in place or would the window need to be removed?

Need a picture of what you are talking about. Sounds like it would need planning also.

Anything is possible. But if This as for heat retention? Best to remove/replace the glass.

Mainly for heat retention. Some cladding instead of a window would be a nice feature. Colour of copper would match in with the colour of the front door.

I'd be more concerned with that sloped ceiling. If not air tight and well insulated it will be brutal for heat loss.

At least the window gives you light.

Haven't check the sloped ceiling here as it's too high for my ladder but any other sloped ceilings I've checked in the house have a 50mm slab on the other side of the plasterboard. Have a thermal camera and the ceilings are good at holding in heat.
