There was trouble at Firhill the last time fans were let in at one of these. Not much - especially bearing in mind some simps class flares as "trouble", but probably enough to make policing it too costly.

Nice result to finish off the season, Its going to be a short break before the CL qualifiers come round so focus needs to be quickly on keeping our best players & strengthening our weaker areas.

For me we need at least 1 CB(2 if van Djik goes) a striker & backup for Gordon & Izzy

Probably be a good few leaving to free up wages, with Pukkki, Boeriggter, Balde, Stokes, Zaluska all looking to be done.

Going to be a big test for our scouting dept & Delia to make decent signings & get them to gel

I'd keep Zaluska if he wants to stay, solid backup tbh. The rest of those mentioned should be sold. They are not good enough for Celtic.

Van Dijk's future will depend on the UCL qualifiers I think. Losing 2 CB's of their quality before the UCL qualifiers would more than likely sink any chance of progressing into the group stages. I hope the board dont disappoint the fans before a ball is kicked in anger

I like Zaluska but the lack of a deal by now suggests either Delia or himself feel its best to move on.

Hopefully Van Dijk will stay for the qualifiers at least but if a big club comes in offering decent money we may have no choice but to let him go.

With guys like Pukki, Boeriggter, Stokes & Wakaso's moving on it frees up a good bit of our wage budget, as you said we can't afford to be blooding 2 new CB's in the qualifiers

Leaving out Zaluska who has been a decent back up 'keeper, I think it's unfair to put Stokes in the same sentence as those other complete write offs you mentioned.

Stokes has been a regular squad player who has started lots of games and scored lots of goals in his time at Celtic. This season Deila played him on the left and he did a good job for the team there as well.

Stokes was signed for around 1.2 million, he's been a decent signing success for Celtic, certainly compared to others who cost around the same or more in recent times.

A good footballer, good enough for the SPL, not quite good enough for the CL or EL.

He could be out of the picture now for the wide position with the recent signings of McCay-Stevens and Armstrong and if we sign another striker or two he might be out of the picture there too, but I wouldn't dump him until we get someone better.

The others you mention obviously should be offloaded, I think they're going to cancel Boerrigter's contract. To be fair to Stokes though, he has been a useful player for Celtic at times, unlike the others you mention.

I wouldn't call Stokes useless but as you said his game time has been limited since the 2 signings in Jan. I can see that only get worse for Stokes next season so can see him being moved on due to being on a decent wage & there'll be interest in signing him.

We have a problem up front. Griffiths is probably the best striker at the club but can't play up front on his own in Europe as Deila wants. Scepovic scored twice yesterday, but there must be a reason why didn't he play more this season? Guidetti is gone. The only other striker at the club is Stokes.

We need to sign a couple of strikers before we offload him. We have signed other strikers and forward players in recent seasons but they have been write offs, that's why Stokes is still at Celtic.

If he is moved on, we'll get money for Stokes if we sell him to a Championship club. We'll get nothing bar loan fees at best, for the other write offs that you put him in to the same bracket as.

If it part of a series of deals to get someone like Denayer here permanently, a new contract for van dijk or another player that Deila really wants. He'll be punted as quickly as the rest. You can only sell what other people want. Few will queue the rest

Stokes has fallen down the pecking order since Armstrong & GMS joined so its no surprise we would listen to offers, I don't think he's in Delia's thoughts for a starting role up front and that's an area we'll definitely be trying to improve so added to the fact that Stokes would have teams interested and command a fee its very likely he will leave.

I certainly would class him a write off like some of the others but if it makes you happy to think that fire away

I presume you meant to say you wouldn't class him as a write off like the others you mentioned. He's been a net contributor in his time at Celtic unlike the others who cost as much or more. If he does leave, I hope we'll get a couple of better players than him, not more Pukki's and Balde's and Bangura's.

Perfect way to end what has turned out to be a really good season for Celtic. There will be all sorts of speculation about players between now and the start of next season but for me I am very excited about the direction Delia has taken our team in over the past year.

And it is being done well in advance of the champions league games in July so giving him some time to get settled in for those games. That is assuming all the reports that he will officially sign tomorrow are indeed true.

Excited about this signing, only seen him a few times but was impressed. Good to see us making a move early too rather than waiting for our CL fate to be decided.

Yes. Waiting until too late in the window is a strategy that hasn't worked. There is the notion that there's a chance of getting a better deal near the end of a window, but it doesn't work out that way and often we end up panic buying. In the last summer window for example Scepovic never wanted to come to Celtic but the deal was rushed through anyway. Also, more importantly, the end of the transfer window is way too late for the crucial qualifiers. We will need another defender to replace Van Dijk and a striker because Guidetti is gone.

Haven't seen any mention of the fee but he had a year to run on his City contract so guess there was one

I'm not convinced about Wilson. Wasn't there talk of another youngster coming up from City, his name escapes me, but he is thought of as a much better prospect than Denayer was.

Good luck to Boyata. I must admit I have not seen too much of him. But he seems to fit into the style of center back that Delia likes for his system so hopefully he settles in well. Good to see this done nice and early as well with the early champions league games in mind.

Celtic given the go ahead to install 'safe standing' areas, could be ready for the start of the 2016/17 season

CELTIC Football Club is delighted today (9/6/15) to announce that it has been granted permission to introduce “safe standing” through the installation of a rail seating system at Celtic Park.
Celtic has been at the forefront of attempts in the UK to introduce this measure, having been in dialogue with the relevant authorities for over five years.
It is proposed that the rail seating area will initially accommodate up to 2,600 supporters and after we consult with our supporters, could potentially be introduced for the start of season 2016/17.

I was surprised to see the green light for safe standing being given it was denied twice earlier last season. Pity it is not going to be in place until the season after next but at least it is on the way. A good move I think which hopefully will improve the atmosphere at domestic games.

Fair play to Celtic, at last the British clubs are finally catching up to the rest of Europe. Should seriously improve atmosphere. With the guard rails and with modern ticketing practices there shouldn't be any safety issues.

As in the previous two years, derogatory behaviour towards Roman Catholicism (84%) accounted for the largest proportion of religious abuse.

Always prefer the away leg first in these qualifiers, so Ronny will need to get a great first leg performance out of the boys to secure this one. A 1 or 2 goal win will make for a very nervy 2nd leg.

CELTIC will take on Icelandic side, Stjarnan, in the second qualifying round of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League.

The Hoops were paired with the Icelandic side at the official draw in Nyon, Switzerland, today (Monday), and face a trip to Iceland for the second consecutive season.

The first leg will take place on July 14/15. The second leg will take place the following week on either July 21 or 22. Celtic were drawn out first, so the first leg is scheduled to be played at home. Further information on the dates of the fixtures to follow.
