Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Carbon Credits

    Hi all
Just looking for advice. When purchasing a boiler for domestic installations I am aware that it could be possible to claim Carbon Credits through EITAS,etc. But my understanding is the installation cannot just be a replacement boiler but controls too. In the case where a boiler is replaced particularly from a standard efficiency one but where controls already exist. Is there anyway of claiming the Credits by upgrading the controls or even part of the controls. Obviously I understand that the customer needs to receive the credit in the form of a discount on my quotation and Credits cannot have been claimed previously on property but owner could get something for nothing. Seems a shame to install a high efficiency gas boiler which would reduce carbon emissions but cannot claim CC's because controls already exist.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

EITAS is a "parasitic organisation" acting as an intermediary between the obligated parties under EEOS and the end consumer.
The current credits, at domestic level, are about 12 cents a kWh, with requirements around BER uplifts so very little will be available on your project as the savings are incremental: maybe moving from 70% to 85% efficiency and EITAS will take their cut, which is usually =>50%.
The other risk is an SEAI audit of a sample of the projects so who stands over the math?
