Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought I'd start a thread and people could add in any road transfers (men & women) for next season. Add in any interesting ones please.

Chris Froome to Israel Start Up Nation

    Sam Oomen to Lotto Jumbo

    Laurens De Plus to Ineos

Romain Bardet to Sunweb (to be confirmed but definitely leaving AG2R)

    Pierre Letour to Direct Energie

Big names rumored to be in talks:

The Yates brothers to Trek Segafredo

Richie Porte to Israel Start Up Nation (back with Froome)

Bardet to Sunweb is interesting considering they told Kelderman to look for a new team, not really a huge step up in terms of a GC contender.

I heard it rumoured that it was doing to be one Yates to Trek and the other to Ineos.

Strange goings on with Mitchelton Scott in recent times with the failed take over / sponsor change.

Then talk from Matt White that they were going stage hunting at the tour.

Darach McQuaid is involved with them now.

I think the Yates have 2 McQuaids as their agents aswell. Cousins or and uncle & nephew

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,545 ✭✭✭at1withmyself

Rumours are that Porte goes back to Sky as a domestic.

Big one is Greg Van Avermat goes to Ag2r so with Bardet gone I wonder will they focus now on the classics

Annemiek Van Vluten to Movistar. Marianne Vos to head up a new Jumbo Visma womens team?

Investing. I wonder why AVV moved? Movistar are a weaker team than Orica. Money maybe?

Stability? With all the shenanigans at Mitchelton-Scott, there's clearly a time limit on Gerry Ryan staying on as primary sponsor. Maybe Movistar is a better long-term bet.

A canny move by Woods if Froome doesn't return to his old form.

Froome will be a well paid super domestique

Israel Start Up Nation have a few other interesting signings Darryl Impey, Carl Fredrik Hagen and Paddy Bevin as well as Froome and Woods

Simon Yates staying put but Adam is still linked to Ineos.

Fausto Maznada is a Quickstep man as of today. Thats an interesting one.

Reading Froome could buy out his contract and race for ISA in the Tour. Probably too late for that

The other Yates has signed for Jeep Wrangler

Tanel Kangert to Mitchelton Scott. Thats decent help for the other Yates man.

Michael Matthews is returning to Mitchelton Scott (GreenEdge). Obvious falling out with Sunweb despite the nice words in press releases as he will end his contract one year early. Will also be interesting to see how this effects his race schedule for the rest of the season but will most likely still do the Giro as Sunweb don't really have the strength in depth or alternatives

His race schedule was already shot to ****, he wasn't getting any of the classics etc. It's hard to know what happened here, did they not give him the calendar and he went for a move, or he moved because of the dicking around. It is strange to see someone go with a year on contract.

Another one leaving CCC, Trentin to UAE.

I would be surprised to see CCC as as WT team next year.....

Kelderman to Bora. I'm surprised in some ways he's managed to get a WT level ride next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,545 ✭✭✭at1withmyself

Lopez is leaving Astana, no confirmation on new team but Astana have confirmed the Giro is his last race for them. Rumours around Bora?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,451 ✭✭✭TheBlaaMan

Jack Haig is leaving Mitchelton Scott for Bahrain McLaren. That's an odd one and I would have thought a significant loss for M/S. He wanted his chance to lead and compete for GC and perhaps he couldn't get any commitment on that front.

Gregor Mühlberger to Movistar on a 3 year deal.

Apparently EF a possible destination as well, as a replacement for higuita/martinez who are being looked at by Ineos

Lutsenko also now being spoken of as a departure from Team Vino.....

    Richie Porte ffs

  • Registered Users Posts: 245 ✭✭Oymyakon

Didn't Porte say 2020 was going to be his last time contending GC at a grand tour? Probably makes sense with the second child arriving to take the pay day at Ineos as a super domestique for his last few pro seasons.

Well, we know where the Froome salary savings have been spent! Dani Martinez is a real surprise for me. I'd be fearful for Dunbar's place within the team. He may have a contract for next 2 years, but he will drop down the roster with the sheer number of climbers/domestiques Ineos have signed. Could struggle for races like Diegnan did and not put himself in the shop window when/if it comes to a transfer.

Not quite transfer news but NTT are pulling their sponsorship and the team are looking for a new sponsor

Yeah I've wondered about Dunbar alright, can't help if he misses the Giro through injury too. Does anyone know if he's expected to be back?

I think ProCyclingStats have Dunbar down provisionally to start, but is that confirmed? I'd be pleasantly surprised to see him take to the start line on Saturday.

Could he consider putting himself forward for the team’s classic calendar ie the Ardennes Classics ? (He he recovers from the collarbone break ? ) It’s not like Ineos have had great options there in the past

He's not on the start list, so I guess we see tomorrow!

Circus-Wanty Gobert taking over the World Tour license from CCC. That's pretty much the end of the BMC team of old isn't it?

I'd say so, seeing as their star rider Greg van Avermaet has already gone and signed for AG2R next season.

Following a couple of months of speculation NTT confirm end of sponsorship at end of 2020. Only 5 riders were still under contract for 2021 anyway. Campanaerts and Battistella being the pick of those who had contracts for 2021. Pozzovivo will likely retire rather than look for a new team

Guessing we'll see 1yr contracts becoming the norm. Creates such uncertainty.
