    Hullo, didn't realise we had a weather board.
    I've set up a little page that reads data from an offshore buoy every hour. It reads the swell height and interval and the wind speed and direction.
    I find it's quite handy for determining whether there's surf out there or not, or if there is surf, what it's like.

    Anyhoo, you can see it on the right hand side of the page at http://www.corksurf.com and you can also use the WAP version at http://www.corksurf.com/wap/

    Hope someone else finds this as useful as me.

    Excellent site!!! I am in Donegal and would love to do something similar for our site (we dive) but not sure if there is an appropriate weather buoy near us.... we rely on a feed from onlineweather.com

    The site is really well designed.

    Take a look at www.ndbc.noaa.gov for some of the bouys around here.

    Also take a look at magicseaweed.com for a way more advanced version of what I've got.

    You can check an offshore buoy on my WAP site by going to www.corksurf.com/wap/northWest.jsp

    That reads from 62105 which is about as close as I could find.

    You can get the raw data from the NDBC site if you look around, then it just takes a little tinkering in Java or PHP or whatever to mess about with the data.

    Just an update on this, I've now got the WAM , PER and Wind charts cropped to show Ireland for the next five days on this page: http://www.corksurf.com/weather.jsp
    It's handy for getting an overview of the marine forecast for the next five days.

    Click on the thumbnail to see the full chart. It's updated every hour.
