We've replaced the AED in the office after realising that it was >8 years old which is the recommendation for getting a full service done (as well as it needing a new battery and pad pack anyway)

Anyone know if there is any specialised recycling programmes for these or charities that take them for refurb?

Most likely you would have to treat the old one as WEE , check if there is an easy way to disconnect the battery or make it safe though.

It's a question of the design life and costs of refurbishing to as new verses getting a new more modern model. And possible liability issues.

But you could check here with the list of companies and the leaflet to download.

https://www.msf.ie/ - unlikely but they might know groups who might take it. I suspect they could make better use of money on other things than refurbishing it.

Battery and pads are a combined removable/replacable pack that disconnects off the back. Which I've already done to stop it giving a low battery beep while it sits beside the WEEE cage.

The liability issue is likely to put off most potential refurbers I'd guess.
