Hi, I have ancestors from Clonmellon. When I look up their records on rootsireland each person is recorded twice once in Westmeath and once in Meath. Would this be just a simple case of Clonmellon is so close to Meath and they couldnt agree what parish they are from??

Is one record a civil record and the other a church record?

Clonmellon Catholic Parish covered parts of both counties, so RootsIreland probably listed the records for the parish under the two applicable county centres.

In the 1830s/1840s there were two chapels associated with the parish, one in each county - see Clonmellon RC Parish
