Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Do you like Bjork?
    Do you like David Attenborough?

Have you ever dreamt that they might one day collaborate on a documentary about how music, technology and nature are connected?

Then you might like 'When Bjork met Attenborough' on Channel 4, Saturday at 7pm!

Anyone watch the new TG4 series Guth tonight? The series is about famous musicians that have Irish heritage. Last week was Bing Crosby, this week was Dusty Springfield. It's been pretty good so far, thought this weeks show was a lot better than the Bing Crosby one. Lots of good archive of Dusty Springfield and a good case made for her being influenced by her Irish roots - she even had her ashes scattered at the Cliffs of Moher.

Remaining episodes look at John Lydon, Morrissey/Marr & Gallagher brothers. Looking forward to Lydon - I read his autobiography No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish a few years back and he talks a good bit about his Irish roots in it.

Imagine - Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A 'Comin
    Tuesday Oct 29th - BBC 1 Northern Ireland 11.05pm (Other Regions 10.35pm)
Jimi Hendrix was a true original, a former private in the 101st Airbourne who famously found an audience when former Animals bass player Chas Chandler discovered him and brought him over to the UK. He revolutionised the music scene and pushed his musical gifts to their extremes to become arguably the greatest rock guitarist of all time. Bob Smeaton's film features never-before-seen performance footage, home movies and family letters, as well as contributions from the Hendrix family, Paul McCartney and former bandmates Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell

Great documentary about Hendrix, makes me a bit sad every time I'm reminded - just 4 years and so much that could have followed.

Looking forward to this one ...

    Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance

    Friday Nov 8th 9pm (1 hour)
    Saturday Nov 9th 11.45pm (1 hour 35 minutes)

(The repeat is an extended version featuring more of the man’s live performances, recording minutiae, family background and later years , although it isn't listed as such. Also, the Friday showing is followed by a repeat of 'Later Presents: Elvis Costello in Concert)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03gq719
Elvis Costello is one of the uncontested geniuses of the rock world. 33 albums and dozens of hit songs have established him as one of the most versatile and intelligent songwriters and performers of his generation. This film provides a definitive account of one of Britain's greatest living songwriters - the first portrait of its kind - directed by Mark Kidel ...

The film focuses in particular on his collaborations with Paul McCartney and Allen Toussaint, who both contribute. It also features exclusive access to unreleased demos of songs written by McCartney and Costello. Elvis was interviewed in Liverpool, London and New York, revisiting the places in which he grew up. The main interview, shot over two days at the famed Avatar Studios in NYC, is characterised by unusual intimacy. Elvis talks for the first time at great length about his career, songwriting and music, and often breaks into song with relevant examples from his repertoire.

Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure: Otway the Movie (2013) is available on Netflix. Had it on my list for ages and finally got around to watching it last week. Best thing I've watched in ages. Hilarious. Mad but very clever guy.
