Excess water discharge?

    Hi folks, looking for a second opinion. Noticed what I'd consider excess water discharge from the air conditioner in my wife's 2017 VW. Called into one of their service departments today, who looked from afar and said it was normal.

    Have a look at this video, the car had been running with the a/c on, fan speed 1, knob about 3/4 towards cold, for about an hour, in city driving, outside temp was 18c.

    Mine flows more than that especially in this moisture laden atmosphere we are currently experiencing.

    Yes some very hot days if I am parked up with it on I have had people ask me was there a problem with the car as they can see the trickle of water coming from it. If you recirculate the air there will be less but cabin air won't be as comfortable.

    Digging this thread up, as the a/c has unfortunately stopped working. VW have now looked at it more closely, and guess what, it's leaking refrigerant. Both the condenser and pipes need to be replaced and because the car is 6 months out of warranty, they want €1400 to fix it :eek:

    What would you do, if you were me?

    Get an ac expert or specialist. Why would it leak from 2 places?

    Your guess is as good as mine, I think they're applying a default approach whereby they replace the lot if they find any evidence of leakage.

    Is there anyone you'd recommend (greater Dublin area)?

    Used this place before in Parkwest for refill and diagnosing a fault, knew his stuff, not sure if he would have the ability to fix your issue if all that work is needed but he would certainly give you a 2nd opinion and diagnose issue.

    Sorry, can't help there. I wouldn't want to pay for someone else's "default approach" .
