Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shower tripping the RCBO on hot, but not on cold. Is it the heating element?

Is it tripping the RCBO on both low power (one element) as well as on high power?.

Yes, though it runs on on either hot setting if I leave the temperature (flow) to fully cold. Does doing this (fully cold) keep the elements out of the circuit?

No, the fully cold temperature setting should ensure that both (or one) element(s) are switched in, if selected but would result in lukewarm water, leave it on fully cold then switch in one element, slowly turn the temperature setting clockwise and see if you can get a hot water flow, then repeat with both elements.

You may simply have a faulty RCBO even though your above findings are a bit strange.

    What rating is the RCBO?

I have it out now. I'm getting 25K ohm between the either of front 2 standoffs on top of the can and the can body.

Trouble with RCBO is that it doesnt tell you if its earth or overload fault.

25k would give 9.2 ma to earth, theoretically, the RCBO requires 30ma to trip or at least 15ma but you shouldn't really be getting any resistance there, have you dried off the top of the can?, also check resistance of both elements, should be around 12 oms each or maybe 11 and 13 or near that, if so then probably the earth leakage part of the RCBO operating.

That was with the can empty. The outside of the can was never wet.

btw do you know if the SR is a direct swap, if it comes to that?

Don't know but sleeper12 will advise.

The Sr has the same plumbing and electrical connectors in the same place. Screw holes won't match up so wall needs to be redrilled

Thanks for that. Any option/room to drill the shower backplate rather than the wall?
