Crap, just realised the one I submitted from my film days isn't going to print up well at all.

Would it be possible to summarise what's being proposed on the flickr group page ? I read the first few posts but it seems the proposal has moved on since, and I would like to get a quick summary of the idea without having to read all the posts. Sorry for being lazy - I'm a bit strapped for time. It also makes sense for the flickr group to explain its purpose. thx

I'm feeling charitable. Go ahead but do it in the next two days and you should be able to remove the one you don't want to use. Also - also - remember that when I come back with dates and locations and other related matters, you will be able to submit a different picture for actual hanging on a wall somewhere.

Me too - the full size one on Flickr is from my pre-pro days and teensy! Treasa, do you have to have high res ones at this stage? Or is it just going to be on a computer screen for the time being? I have the original scanned but its at the top of the shelves in my bedroom and I still can't lift my arm above shoulder height (:rolleyes:) I can get someone to get it for me in the next day or two if its going to look completely sh!te though...

Edit: Never mind - I found the original scan on the computer and replaced...

correct me if I'm wrong and I've misread this whole thread, but you are allowed to enter 1 pic and change it to a different one later.

The pic you're entering does not necessarily have to be the one that is going to get used in the exhibition (i.e printed at large size)

It should be representative of the kind of photos you take

so as the online portfolio will show off the mix of photographers we have here on boards

I closed it about thirty minutes ago. Because I am nice and up to my eyes with something else I'll go and open it again until I wake up tomorrow morning. After that, *shrugs her shoulders*.

You can only add one photo now, by the way.

Oh yeah - while we're at it. I'd like it if you are getting involved in this that you are part of a community effort here. That means contributing to the board in a meaningful way, either through helping those who want advice etc etc etc, posting pictures for C&C, getting involved in responding to other people's pictures etc etc. I see a few new people. Welcome....Get involved please.

Thanks for that challengemaster. I went with that one because I just like the colours more and the reflection shot was more a happy accident as I was playing with the camera settings and not really framing anything in particular, so times you just get lucky.

Okay.

I will open the Flickr group until 5pm this evening, after that, nada.. I need to start collating all this stuff and putting things together, writing little aren't we wonderful scripts and all that sort of stuff. This part needs to be finalised now because I don't want this to take over Christmas and I am going on holidays at the start of December.

Remember, I will come back to you looking for a print selection later on when I have dates but for now this is the exhibition marketing selection.

I haven't forgotten about it. It's just been slightly lower on my priority list lately - when I say I have been insanely busy, I am not joking. So much so that I am not even taking photographs at the moment.

A lot of stuff has cleared though so I'll be able to pick this up again very shortly. Promise.

We started in December actually and got cut off by various bits that appeared over the event horizon that just got in the way. Work was a key one.

What I'm going to do is this:

1) re-open the group so that you can change the picture you've submitted if you want - again, it doesn't have to be your final choice but just something you feel is representative of what you'd want to see hanging on the wall. If you add a new photograph, please remove the older one. Please. PLEASE.

2) make the following statement because this stymied me the last time. I requested clear permission that I could use the photographs in 1) slideshows or 2) contact sheets for the purpose of showing interested parties (possible sponsors or gallery locations) what we're talking about. I did not get it from everyone, or even close to a majority of the people who provided photographs.

I haven't time to go after people for it now and anyway I don't think it's fair that I or anyone else that I might ask to do so should have to although I started making a list before Christmas to have a go but got sidetracked so this is the current situation now - I will assume that if you submit a photograph to either the flickr boardsexhibition group or tag it as such on pix.ie, you are also giving me the permission I need to reproduce your photograph either in a slideshow or a contact sheet. I'd assume this is self-evident but in case it is not, I'm just highlighting it.

In terms of what has to be done, I'll dig out my notes from the last time I started and move forward.
