Do you need to be VAT registered to deal with freight forwarders?

Hi guys Thinking of importing some products from China have suppliers sorted just having issue finding a freight forwarders to work with not sure if it’s the fact I’m not a registered business any got any advice or recommendations Cheers

Had you any luck finding info I Jonny?
I'm seeking similar info. Some really good old threads on here but not much recent in depth discussion.
Looking to import a couple of pallets LCL, need guidance or recommendation of a good forwarder who help.

To import goods on a commercial scale do you not need a VAT number to obtain an Eori number and following on from that need to be a registered business?
