Sad stuff. I was only told about this service recently and hadn't the chance to use it - guess I'll be sticking to the taxi to the red cow and green bus home after nights out...

If they are going to cease a service they should have to give at least two weeks notice

It's not really being withdrawn though, rather the 126N (which is a commercial service) is being replaced by an identical 00.30 and 03.30 126 Friday and Saturday PSO service the following week, the only difference is it is to become a PSO service. Probably not very well advertised.

A huge benefit is now FTP and LEAP can be useable on the service as these were not accepted on the Nightrider service.

It's not a reversal though, it's BE discontinuing a commercial service which is being replaced by the NTA by an identical PSO service, sounds more like Lawless trying to take credit for the NTAs decision to make it a PSO service. Had it been reported properly in the first place by the Leinster Leader then Lawless would not be able to claim a reversal of the decision to axe the 126N. That decision has not been reversed, the 126N most definitely is finishing as first reported and replaced by an identical service falling under the 126.

My understanding is that the NTA have given BE a month long contract to evaluate it and will then decide to extend or not.

Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has expressed serious concerns about the 133 Bus Eireann route after the NTA confirmed to him that the route is on a list that may be privatised.

    Quickly citizens....To the barricades

Well,on mature reflection, maybe go to this meeting first.....
Muireann Dalton concluded “I have organised a public meeting to oppose the privatisation of the 133 route and to discuss outer issues within our public transport service. It will take place on Thursday 22nd November in the Parkview Hotel in Newtownmountkennedy at 7pm and all are welcome”

    :)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

If that is what he was at, at least he tried to take credit in the same week as the announcement.

In April 2016, Regina Doherty tried to take credit for changes to the 103 and 105 timetables in 2016, over two months after Bus Éireann and the NTA had listed proposed changes to those two routes.

In January 2016, in a press release, she objected to proposals to change the 105 service. She did not acknowledge in her press statement that the proposals also included an increase in the frequency of the 103 service.

By not acknowledging in her press statement, the proposed changes in the frequency of the 103 service, she ignorantly suggested, that with the changes to the 105 route, that Bus Éireann would leave passengers going to Dublin from Duleek, Kentstown, Ashbourne and Ratoath, stranded.

She said "hundreds" would be "unable to travel" to "Dublin city centre every day".

She stated: "Fine Gael TD for Meath East, Regina Doherty, has called on Bus Eireann to reverse proposed changes to Route 105 which will see the new terminus at Connolly Hospital and will no longer bring commuters from Duleek, Kentstown, Ashbourne, and Ratoath to the city centre. Doherty said “it is absolutely ludicrous for Bus Eireann to make proposed changes to this route which will see hundreds of Meath unable to travel directly to Dublin city centre every day. I am also beyond disappointed that Bus Eireann appears to have failed to adequately communicate these proposed changes to their customers."

In April 2016, she tried to take credit for changes to these routes.
