Heavy rain this evening near Tralee since after 21.30, 5.8mm so far and big temperature drop also, 10.3C at 21.30 / 6.0C atm and dropping

Wind having been from the SW and S for much of the day is now after veering to the WNW as the cold front passes over, 10 min avg 23 kph, gust 43 kph

Really heavy for a good 45 minutes or so.
Has not eased off yet.

Cold and a glorious rainbow as a shower swept across the land.. There are three layerss of mountains ( South Kerry) at my back door... often the far ones will have snow but today the middle ones are dusted also.. awesome skies

Windy day but less so this evening, wind veered from the SW to the W here from about 16.30 and has remained more or less so, avg. in the high 20's much of the day, 10 min avg 16 kph atm, high gust 57.9 kph early morning but gusting into the 50's again for much of the day.

Getting windy here again near Tralee after a lull this evening but not as strong as else where; 10 min avg 26 kph SW , highest gust today 66 kph

Was in Killarney around 12.30 where it was reading 16C by the car but over here on the coast it just got to 13.7C but was over 13C for 10 hrs, down now to 12.3C atm

No rain except for a brief shower of 0.2mm around 11.00.

Overall an extremely mild dull January day with low scraggly type cloud ( Stratus fractus) moving along quickly in a brisk SW'ly airflow with only a hint of blue sky for brief moments.
