Very disappointed in Met Eireann's storm names!

As somebody who has lived in the UK and had the piss taken out of my accent for decades, it gave me immense pleasure to watch my non-irish friends and colleagues struggle with Fionn and Saoirse and the like.

Now Brendan is a lovely name but can we not stick a Caoimhe, a Tadgh or a Dearbhla in next time!

And Joachim - but insist they pronounce it the 'Irish' way - Joe-ak-em (as in Joachim Kelly the hurler).

And what purpose would obscure unpronounceable names serve?
Doesn't matter if it's Welsh, Scottish, Irish or Manx, the name must be open for all to read ..

The names are set by the UK and Irish Met Offices in advance of each year.

Childish post, so many accents in the UK, from Northern Irish, to everything from all over. Everyone has an accent.

Storm Kitty, LOL, I can't wait to see the forecasters trying to keep a straight face.

I want to see a Séamus, Caoimhín, Nollaig (perfect as it can be Male or female), Róisín and Gráinne on that list.

The very first named storm here was ... say it slowly ... Abigail.

How many storms did we get on average over the last few years? 7, 8 or 10 at most maybe? Why not run the list to the end and then start again because ultimately the last 10-15 are never ever going to be reached so it’s a ridiculous pointless exercise coming up with names alphabetically or otherwise next year start at the end and work back the way or heck let’s just abandon it totally as let’s face it, it’s pure nonsense naming a weather event.
