Just got into this recently. Love the survival. Creepers keep sneaking up on me. Multiplayer survival with increased difficulty would be great, or even pvp.

Is there much interest to set up a boards.ie server? Looks like it will be starting at about 8 euros plus a month though for 8 slots...

if there's interest and people genuinely say they'll donate maybe a couple of us could set one up for a couple months at least... not sure if my home net connection is up to handling one.

I could buy us a domain to make it easier to type in (lack of copy and paste in minecraft :eek:), but there's no point if only 2 or 3 people are interested. it'd want to be at least full enough that you'd know someone would be there, or at certain times

You get it where lava and water collide naturally. It's purple stuff. Never actually got a decent enough tool to chop it

You can actually force grow it too, all you need is a few buckets of lava, some buckets of water and some dirt. There are vids on youtube about it.

It's something to do with the angle of the water hitting the lava or something.

Just to add to generalmiaow's post, you can force water towards lava and Obsidian will be created when the two meet..

You need a Diamond tool to mine it.

Funny you should say that, I had a feeling it was when two blocks or more collided, I noticed with single block collisions you were more likely to get a block identical to the main 'processed rock'. The water was hitting the lava from above too, I noticed, for the main run..

Probably, fairly small update, I'm not close to my 'base', so.. can't test the Obsidian blocks or the fishing rod yet..

The Minecraft server has been DDoS'd for some or most of the week. Add to that the expectation from the half a million users.

Sadly, crafthub.net are reporting that the game user accounts have been compromised in some manner. Seems to be a brute login cracker of some sort.

* Working server-side inventory! Finally! (And as a result of that, a whole pile of bugs and issues got fixed)
* Made SMP servers save chunks way less often in most cases. Chunks don’t resave if they got saved in the last 30 seconds
* Moving too far away from a container, or having it blow up, closes the inventory screen
* Fixed /kill
* Introduced leaf decay again. It acts differently from before
* You can now throw eggs
* On a whim, added super exclusive clan cloaks for Mojang Employees
* .. and something else, which is even more rare

They were very umm.. 'ripe' comments. I reckon Notch probably wanted to make the site suitable for a wider and more varied audience, including children.

A very small minority were also snipping away at Notch.. the crime of being profitable..

Minecraft Beta 1.2 is live. All servers need to be updated to 1.2.

New features:
* Note blocks (right click to tune, trigger to play)
* 15 wool dyes
* A new water dwelling mob

* Reeds magically turned into sugar canes. They still make paper.

Does anyone know how to move server maps from one pc to another? Moving the server world folder doesn't work and I can't find any extra files in appdata...
