    I always found it surprising that not a single audio recording of Collins exists.
    The technology was out there and established at the time.

    How did he talk? Pure Cork? Did he pick up anything from London? Was he brash and forceful? Doesn't strike me as the softly spoken type

    Just something I've wondered and it's an awful pity there is no recording

    I know of no audio for Collins. There are video clips of him such as this one http://www.britishpathe.com/video/michael-collins at British Pathe.
    From the clip he does seem a big man in accordance with written descriptions.

    Would have started out pure West Cork (big Difference Mr. Loach if you be reading) I reckon it would have mellowed during his time in London, in order for people to understand him

    Collins Barracks museum has some of his clothes on display - huge man. They actually have the hat he was wearing when shot but it isn't on current display - still has blood on it and all.
