The damned things are everywhere. Especially in rental houses.

This type is mad popular for some reason with the big flat sloped arm rests. Most usually worse for wear with some drug paraphernalia that got lost in behind the cushions, the leather perforated by the youngfella putting a dartboard up against it and missing and the remains of several takeways shoved into the crevasses

Why are they so popular? Will these go down in history as the avocado toilet bowl of the 00's and 10's?

Thread made me laugh because I am getting rid of two of them in that style. Mine are v good quality though, not like that photo.

They were the thing to get about 10 years ago.

One of mine was never even sat on, its brand new. But belongs in the past. Might try and sell the brand new one.

The dining chairs were the same at the time. Brown (varying quality) "leather". You can always cover them now though, with the stretchy covers you buy in Tallaght.

The one in the op looks likes something you'd buy from travellers.

Furniture in rentals is renowned for its crapness.

It is actually a free one I found on adverts in Tallaght. Can send the link in case someone is planning to pay a traveller for one

Ahh here you are giving them bad press just as I'm getting ready to put mine up for sale.

Want a Brown couch, boss. Real leather. From Italy.

Looks like it belongs in a student flat in Portobello, the type of place where everyone crashes after a night out in Coppers.

I really dislike the look of leather sofas but they offer the best solution when you have pets (so long as they're not scratchers). I'll be looking for a new sofa soon and I think leather it will have to be. They're just more hygienic. When I think of the fabric sofa from my college house, and all it experienced!! :O Doesn't bear thinking about.

Thanks though OP. I'm replacing my couches and considering not being a sheep like the last time.

Was considering getting chairs made out of a fabric that features monkeys, parrots, pomegranates and flowers and you have just made me go for it.

Jesus don’t do that. People will think you are abit mad when they visit. Anything you do from then on won’t be taken seriously.

i hate it when you can feel your sweat between the leather and your skin, yuuuuuuuuu

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,423 ✭✭✭✭Outlaw Pete

I'd rather that than have a sofa that absorbs sweat.

Sofas made from leather will never belong in another decade.

    Some styles of them, sure.

If you have kids, they are relatively easy to clean during their invariably short lifespan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭peckerhead

    Unlike said offspring.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,421 ✭✭✭ToddyDoody

Its a shame you cant take the cushions off and make a fort.

They are what they are. You might be able to throw a throw on them.
The worst couches of all are those square contemporary yokes Dermot Bannon seems to go for.
    Very uncomfortable yokes.
