I need to replace the freehub in my Shimano R501 rear wheel. I just want to check if I am ordering the correct part. I have a 9 speed groupset.

This (Shimano WH-R501-R Freehub Body) freehub on wiggle looks correct for 9 speed bikes, but then I see the same part number on chainreactioncycles and it says it's suitable for 10/11 speeds.

    I notice it mentions
    Compatibility: Shimano WH-R501 series
My wheel is R501, not WH-R501. Would that make a difference. I'm not sure whether the WH is just a code for Wheels or if it indicates something else

WH is just the Shimano identifying code prefix for 'wheel'.

It's how all their parts have historically been identified e.g. FD=front derailleur, RD=rear derailleur etc.

The number following it refers to the model.
