Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi, nice thread!

Yeah pinball machines are awesome! I have only gotten into them recently to be honest, after spending hours in an arcade in Amsterdam. But they are so fun, even though I couldn't afford one! I have Gottleibs pinball classics for my PSP, and while it is one of my favorite games, it just doesn't compare to actually playing on a real machine. Although, I have never had the opportunity to play on any classic machines yet! Does anyone know any good places to play in Dublin? New or old, it doesn't matter. Also any reccomendations on good machines which are "must-plays"?

    Cheers,
    Tiernan.

Hi, there's one in Fibbers on Parnell street, its a Metallica machine. Quite nice to play the last few times I played it. Dont know of any others at this time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,147 ✭✭✭CathalDublin

    Fibbers, quirkeys, the Disney store.
There was a pinball meet a couple weeks back, some brilliant tables at it, almost all belonging to brownfinger from this forum. Nothing like owning a pinball, save up a few quid every month, say nothing to the missus and go wild when one pops up for sale

    When is the next meet?

Sweet **** all pins out in the wild.
    Expensive hobby but very rewarding.
Its an exciting time for pinball, loads of new stuff coming out and even a new company based in whales.

Current number 7 here! There should be a meet in June/ July time, depends when suits me best but going to be a rake of pins at that it seems

Theatre of Magic and No Good Gofers will 100% be there

Hoping whirlwind will make an appearance too, transport depending, I have to say it's playing excellently lately!
The pressure to be good at it though might be too much for me lol

    Hello,

See this is an old thread, and pinball.ie is gone, but is there still a pinball following out there? And have there been any more events?

    Or has it gone underground?

Mod Edit: We have a vibrant scene here and this is our general thread, moved from the zombie source thread!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Irish pinball is the modern day equivalent of Fight Club.

All the hardcore pinheads, or pinpals as I like to be called, will always be underground!

    Hi Guys,

My name's Andy and I'm new to this forum.

Basically I'm into pinball machines in a big way. I had 45 of them up till recently but I've trimmed the number down to a more manageable 20-odd (for now!! ;) )

Anyway I buy, sell, repair and mainly collect pins and was wondering if anyone else here is interested in them and if so, what have they got?

I already know Mitchomagic from elsewhere!! Btw, Mitch I have a Superhero in my van with your name on it :D

    Andy

    Hi,
Wondering are you able to do repairs on a pinball machine? The one of the flicker things on is isn't working. Finding it very hard to find somebody who would be able to do it.

Hopefully you would be able to and if not would know if a company that would?

    Thanks!

Mod note: just moved this post, it was in an old pinball thread when we already have this one. I'm sure one of the regular pinheads can help you out

    What's the game?

Out of necessity any of us who have pinballs have had to become pretty decent at fixing them! So I'm sure we can help you out

1st rule is we're not supposed to talk about it

Should be having my one in the middle of August sometime. Had to postpone because I had construction work to do in the house and stuff first. More details closer to the date

I prefer be called a Pusher!
Ah No, they often pop up for under a grand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Yeah if you just wait something will come up for 700~900 and it will be perfect as a starter machine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

I thought those encouraging people to partake in pinball tables were called flippers. Or bumpers. Some like to call themselves multi-balls, but we know they're all talk.

Hopefully in the next while I'll be picking up another machine.
Its a one in one out policy so there'll be something up for grabs and It'll be priced fair.

Less than a grand but then add on a few hundred grand for a house where I can keep it!

How much did that Simpsons Pinball Party go for on adverts a couple of years ago? was it something mad low like 600?

Actually I nearly cried when I missed out on this.

Yeah but that was the asking price, so if he's said 350 he would have had it :pac:

When you see an insanely crazy deal you offer asking, otherwise someone else will be along to scoop it up instead.

Anyone else not really a fan of these more modern looking pins? That and Metallica look kinda cheapish to me with all the plastic. Artwork on them looks kinda cheapy too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,784 ✭✭✭eddhorse

Not a fan either, I like the older ones.

Im still not a bumper though, dont like harming the poor critters.
