Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just after checking my wages this week and seeing I am paying just over €20 extra, was wondering does anyone know why this could be?
    Thanks

is your gross pay gone up? Have you had a pay rise?

Just a minimal payrise of about €10 per week.

If you are registered for MyAccount you can see if there has been a new tax credit cert with any changes. Alternatively if you ask your employer they may print off the RPNs that they got from Revenue ( which is the employers version of the tax credit cert) for you and see if there has been any change there.

Why would there be such a big increase?
    Thanks

Various reasons, maybe original tax credits were incorrect and were corrected recently. Maybe there was a previous year underpayment now being collected from current year. Maybe there was some social welfare income such as illness benefit now coded in. You’d need to give more information to say exactly why.

If you had tax credit cert or payslips showing what credits were before and after the change then it might explain.

Thanks. It's not social welfare or illness benefit for sure, I'll try and contact Revenue tomorrow. Thanks very much for the information.

You'd need to provide details of your tax credits, cut-off band and gross pay for anyone to be able to give an accurate response. It's possible that your tax credits or cut-off band were reduced to collect some prior year underpayment or because you reallocated some to a spouse. This could be identified if your tax credits or band were not 'typical values'.

There are many online calculators which you can use to check your expected net:

Karl Grabe's web app is good for a quick calculation: http://taxcalc.eu
My macro enabled Excel spreadsheet (Windows only and needs Excel 2010 or newer to work): http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss
    Hookhead's calculator is at http://www.virtualaccountant.ie/Tools/tax2019.jsp
    Deloittes: http://services.deloitte.ie/tc/

In addition to this, was there a week recently (eg last week) you did not work?

No, no time missed at work, and no change to spouses income.

If you’re ringing them go to Revenue.ie contact locator put in your pps number and it will give you the relevant phone number. Ring early like 09.30 or as soon after as you can as their waiting times can get long as the day goes on.
