Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rent a room on Illness Benefit

I am on Illness Benefit for the last couple of years due to a mental health issue. I own my own house but have a big mortgage (purchased before I got sick). I'm really struggling to make ends meet. Is it possible to rent-a-room in my house tax free and without affecting my Illness Benefit?

Ring the dept of social protection but yes I think so. You can when working so I don't see why not. You can earn up to €14000 tax free.

You may find more suitable answers in state benefits forum.

You can earn the money tax free but I have no idea if it would effect an illness benefits means test.
