Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    A friend had her immersion replaced and I dont believe it is wired right its a Dual element. The brown wire is onto heater Black wire in onto other heater The blue wire goes to a terminal near thermostat a Blue wire from Stat goes to another terminal as does the blue wire from other side of stat. Earth to cover bolt

    Remember, the stat switches the common neutral.

    That is the correct configuration - brown to bath element, black to sink element and blue is neutral so goes to the stat.

    It may appear incorrect if you're comparing it to your setup. Which, if it uses the old system, may be black to bath, blue to sink and brown to neutral (stat) .

    If you are in doubt about correct immersion wiring you need to check the switch wiring as well as the element & thermostat.
    As asked by Wearb what is wrong, why are you checking it?

    If she is just concerned that the sink & bath are not connected to their respective elements then all she has to do is wait until the cylinder is cold/cool and then switch to sink, if connected properly it will heat the water (approx 30 litres) to 60C in 30 minutes or less, if wrongly wired then the water will be hand hot ~ 36/40C after 30 minutes.

    From a (modern) wiring point of view easy to remember as "Sink the black down the brown bath". The immersion elements I think are now sold with a length of cable attached so colours should be as shown.

    As most new immersion elements come prewired The issue may be that it’s not connected correctly into the immersion switch


    Blue neutral
    Black sink
    Brown bath
