Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Help! Combi or Triple Pass Boiler

    I am replacing my old oil boiler with a second hand one for the time being. I have 2 choices. A grant indoor Combi 90 or a grant indoor triple pass. I don't really understand the difference between them, or are they basically the very same setup. Old boiler was a grant indoor open system. If someone could explain the difference to me I would appreciate it. thank you.

    A grant combi is a oil fired boiler and a Grant triple pass used to be a solid fuel back boiler.

    will a Combi boiler work with my present system? I have an overhead tank and a cylinder.
    I can assure you the grant triple pass is an oil boiler with a burner. It appears to be an open vented system.

    The combi doesn't need a cylinder and supplies hot water on demand but will need a pump to pump it from the cold water storage tank through the boiler and then to the hot users, the other option is probably far easier as you are replacing like with like.
