Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Given Netflix's streak at the moment, this will only either be watchable, or utter drek. There's little middle-ground these days with the service.

It looks decent enough, though it's hard to know what tone it's going for - the gag with the dog at the start suggested a comedic tone, absent in the rest of the trailer.

I think it features quite a few British cast

Skins in Ibiza I've seen in one review

Watched first 2 episodes, it's ok, one real pain in the hole is the subtitles are very hard to read as they are positioned all over the place.

Have watched 3 episodes. It's quite painful to watch, and the representation of dance culture in it is really cringe. Tries and fails with injections of comedy every so often.

    Eldorado with some dance music.

Always fancied haddock so would watch anything with her anyway tbh but checked this out cause the trailer looked alright.

    It is just that, alright.

Loses the run of itself and is completely unbelievable of course by the end particularly but it passes time in quarantine.

10 episodes was a bit of a strain on it I felt, could have been better shorter with some stuff (lot of stuff tbf) cut out of it.

It will pass the time anyway

Does she talk to the camera like that for the entire season? Don't think I could suffer that.

She does, but seems to be less each episode or maybe I'm used to her at this stage.

Can't say I noticed it very much after the *spoiler alerts* reveal that she isn't actually talking to you the viewer but could be wrong

I've watched the first 6 episodes and it's difficult to like a show when the main character is the most annoying person in it. I also think Axel is a bit of a dick so no empathy there I don't really care who's killed him. The show I think it needs a dose of reality and better story telling.

I think it kinda has potential but I think when I get to the ends its not a show I'll be repeating or recommending.

It does make me want to go Ibiza again though but I’d avoid most of that lot.
I’ll finish it off as it’s less emotionally challenging than Normal People.

I just watched the first episode, ugh. It was like a Hollyoaks special in Ibiza or something. 55 minutes I'll never get back. Terrible.

I watched 3 episodes but that's it, totally unbelievable, nothing good about it.

Like right from the off. Why the f*ck was the sister brought in to the middle of the desert to the sealed off police dig where the body was being exhumed? Oh yeah sis just go over and have a look yourself right up close...
I had to stop it and search google for an answer to this, thinking maybe it was some old Spanish tradition to take family members to murder scenes, because it was so ridiculous.

The main character Zoe has to be one of the most annoying, unlikable, and selfish main characters in the history of tv.

Half-way through this mess of a series. Have no idea why I felt compelled to comment on such a poor series - more of a rant really - probably because I find it annoying that they're trying to tout it as a hit of the summer. I will probably watch the rest because it beats debating what we'll stick on tv while our dinner's getting cold.

It's a shame as I really liked the trailer, which made the show look interesting - some sort of detective show where everyone was out of their depth and trying too hard to be cool. Not ground breaking comedy, but enough to know it wasn't taking itself seriously.

But the show does not live up to the promise of the trailer. It has long bouts where it seems to think its storyline is akin to the Godfather before reluctantly squeezing some weak humour in that the writer/director almost seems to instantly regret. It feels like a dodgy soap opera that they've tacked the bare minimum humour into. Think 'Death in Paradise' set on Ibiza with the police procedural replaced by some half-witted imaginings of what party culture/Spanish criminality are like mixed with superficial musings on what life is really about.

The characters are two-dimensional caricatures. Axel is 24. Just remember that. 24.
24 when he was kicked out of his home by his father. After being arrested by same father for running raves. After giving his 15 year old sister drugs. Who went to Ibiza. And got a 15 year old girlfriend there(she says 15 herself).
    He was a prat.
The lead - Zoe - is that type of whingey, inconsistent character that only helps the story lurch forward by doing stupid and/or selfish things. I get the whole point of her taking Lithium/tranqs, and what it's trying to hamfistedly say, but as with much of the writing, it feels like a 60-something-year old who really has a problem writing women trying to imagine characters and storylines based on very outdated views.

Not a fan of club culture, but the depiction here is pathetic - maybe that's the point? Hard to tell if they're glorifying it in places or trying to soft-sell morality lessons on drug-use while flashing a bit of skin. They don't seem to have done any real research, and have concocted a scenario based on 90s club culture from a handful of Telegraph and Daily Mail articles.

The scenery is stunning, however. Series knocks it out of the park on that one. Not into clubbing myself, but have friends (some of the right vintage for this show and go to Ibiza regularly) who have told me how stunning the place is. I have to admit it, it seems beautiful.

This tries to be nostalgia porn for an ageing clubbing generation - but it's let down by the fact it's obviously written by someone who did the minimum level of research to fit club-culture around a stock murder mystery yarn without any regard for the huge gaping plotholes.

The show has so few redeeming features, I'd avoid it - unless, like me, you want to just start eating your damn chicken fingers for once before they go cold!

Great summary. If you haven't started, I'd avoid altogether. Rubbish.

The part that one lad wants to ride the box off his Ma has me confused as fook, no sense or reasoning whatsoever as to what in the jaysus that has to do with the story, is the Álex Pina chap the full schilling? Additionally I am not sure if much or any of this is actually filmed in Ibiza, couldn't see any place I recognised.

  • Registered Users Posts: 819 ✭✭✭EDit

Pretty sure I read in one of the IMDB reviews that it was mainly filmed in Majorca

Episode 6 has to be one of the stupidest and lazy pieces of writing I've ever seen. The stuff this Zoe character does is pure stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,740 ✭✭✭4Ad

I enjoyed the start of it but just got more stupid, still finished it.
I think it was trying to be a piece of everything, detective, thriller, comedy...
As for Zoe and the father, two most annoying, unbelievable people...
Worth watching for Kika though....Stunning looking ...

Ok, sat through 2 eps and had enough. Somebody already mentioned its like Eldorado and I get that. The acting is terrible and I'd have to assume it's mostly due the cheesy dialogue and woeful directing by Nick Hamm. It smacks of the worse kind of Sky production

The other half is still watching and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Shame as there's probably a decent story underneath.

No the story is the obvious story and it's as shallow as it seems.

Just got around to watching it after running out of good things to watch over the last few months. What utter trash, there was the framework for a good show there but the writing/story was complete nonsense. No ones motives and behaviour made sense. The story is like its from some trashy chick lit novel you'd pick up in airport. I only kept up with it because the wife insisted and she thought it was fairly crap as well

Did they even explain how the body ended up on the mainland?
