Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hey all
    i left my current employer on 25th of this month of my own accord i am looking for new work but i am curious to know what Social Welfare i should be Claiming i know there is Jobseekers Allowance (do i get it straight away or wait 9 weeks?) and Jobseekers Benefit

    any help greatly appreciated

    If you left of your own accord you can't officially claim anything for 9 weeks but if you had a good cause to leave you may get the payment, contact your local Intreo Office...
    If you leave work voluntarily or as a result of misconduct, you cannot get a jobseeker’s payment for 9 weeks. However, if you have ‘good cause’ to leave voluntarily, for example, any changes in working conditions such as a reduction in pay, harassment or abuse from your employer, you may get your payment. The Deciding Officer in your local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Branch Office will decide whether you had good cause to leave voluntarily.

    If you left of your own accord for no good reason then you will have to wait 9 weeks before you get anything. However, you should still apply and let them decide if your reason was good enough but if it was that you were just fed up then they'r not going to accept that as a good reason.

    If you have been working and accumulating prsi contributions for the last couple of years with 39 weeks prsi in 2018 then you would qualify for Job Seekers Benefit providing you are genuinely seeking work etc.

    If you don't have the correct prsi then you will only qualify for Job Seekers Allowance if you meet the means test.

    Both payments are subject to the 9 week waiting period if you left a job voluntarily.

    You should always apply immediately regardless if you think you will be disqualified for 9 weeks or not. that is on a discretionary basis.

    I received my payment a week or ten days after applying after quitting my job. so it's just based on your own situation, why you left etc, what sort of work it was.
