Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't see us winning this one, with out away record best we can hope for is a draw.

Either 1-1 or 2-1 to Newcastle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,787 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

3 points for utd or it could be a draw.

  • Newcastle no likey Man Utd

If we stick with Januzaj and Young, or give Di Maria a more restricted role on the wings should be enough to beat Newcastle with Rooney / Falcoa up front.

Would be good to get Carrick on for a few minutes as a sub also

Going to go for a scrappy 2-1 to M.Utd.

Cisse for Newcastle and Rooney and Falcao for United.

Another of the must win fixtures really, I'm on the fence tbh, I think we will win but the away form has been patchy and if Newcastle decide to sit in and defend, try to catch us on the break it could be a very frustrating night. If United play with a good tempo and stretch them I can see it being quite comfortable.

Hard to know how this will go as Newcastle are so unpredictable.

I'll say a scrappy Utd win or score draw.

Ah Kew, 3/10 for effort, you forgot to tell people the game is on BT Sport.

We've a decent record against Newcastle:

    • December 2014: Man Utd 3-1 Newcastle

    • April 2014: Newcastle 0-4 Man Utd

    • December 2013: Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle

    • December 2012: Man Utd 4-3 Newcastle

    • October 2012: Newcastle 0-3 Man Utd

Only 3 away wins for United is a problem and we need to improve on this pronto.Newcastle were rubbish against us at OT but the way we play away from home, this could be a real slog.

    We are terrible.

    Easy win for United.

Id like to see Mata get a start tonight especially with the way Di Maria has been of late. Think we'll pull through this easy enough despite the shaky few weeks Utd have had.

I can see this being the biggest ever away win in the premier league.

yep, the last quarter will finish 0-7 to 4-12 with 4 wickets to spare.

No joke, the Newcastle back line should be renamed the Exxon Valdez, take half a day to turn and porous as fcuk.

You've seen Utd play this season yeah? We struggled to put Sunderland away at home on Saturday. It doesn't matter how porous their defence is if we don't create goal scoring chances

Unfortunately United haven't exactly been displaying any great pace recently, Falcao in particular couldn't win a footrace with a ham sandwich.

We will still win though. It will be similar to the Sunderland game, awful on the eyes and very frustrating play but we will get a goal or two from somewhere. I'd even go so far as a 3-0 win for United, all goals in the 2nd half.

Ahhh ....poor Overtan, another Tosic!,if LVG is serious about securing at least 4th place this is one of those must win games,Neecastle frail at the back and if Cisse is well marshalled they are toothless enough up front.
Would like to see this team start-
    De Gea,
    Tony V Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Blind Fellaini
    Herrera Young
    Mata
    Rooney.

With Di Maria on bench as he isn't 'playing' himself into form...and Shaw to wake up a bit hopefully.

Must win game for United, lose here and its curtains for 4th imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Can't see Newcastle causing you lot any major problems. I was over for the game at the Etihad a couple of saturdays back, and the toon were absolutely atrocious. Defensively, they're very poorly organised. Press them hard from the outset, and they will probably crumble. If Falcao and Di Maria can't fill their boots tonight, they never will. 1-4 for United.

We have the worst defence in the Premier League by some distance. We've also got nothing going for us in attack either. This will be a very comfortable win for Man United.

This will be another example of mind numbingly tedious drudgery

Be very surprised if it's anything other than a clear victory for Manchester United tonight.

Our defence (NUFC) is incredibly bad as That_Guy has alluded to. Our first choice left-back is injured alongside Steven Taylor, Paul Dummett, and Davide Santon gone on loan, plus Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa sold to Roma.

A defence with Mike Williamson starting at centre back is pretty much a three man defence, with Coloccini set for another double workload tonight.

No Rémy Cabella on the wing for any flair either, while Jack Colback is suspended.

If MUFC don't win this tonight they have only themselves to blame.

I'd just like to see us go all out and throw caution to the wind. Cue another 0-4 loss!

Rumours of Januzaj and Jones in for Evans and Di Maria.

    Rumours wrong.

#mufc XI vs Newcastle: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Evans, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Fellaini, Young, Rooney.

    Rumours wrong.

No Falcao but still should have enough. 2-0 United win, Fellaini and Rooney peno

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,376 ✭✭✭Anyone

Fellaini instead of Falcao. Should mean Man Utd can play more at the back if the are going to bypass midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

Think Newcastle have a chance of stealing a draw here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

    I'm hoping that's a 4-3-3 like this:

    DDG
    Val--Smalling--Evans--Rojo
    Blind
    Fellaini----Herrera
    Di Maria
    Young
    Rooney

    What it probably will be:

    Blind
    Herrera-Young-Evans-Val
    DDG
    Rooney----Rojo
    Smalling
    ---Di Maria
    Fellaini

May as well leave Evans sure!

Don't see how playing an extra midfielder would indicate they will bypass midfield, something United haven't done at all this season either..

    This will be the formation

    DDG
    Val--Smalling--Evans--Rojo
    Blind
    Rooney----Herrera
    Di Maria
    Young

    Fellaini
