Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

City centre, tourist area / plaza, 50cl beer = up to 5.00-5.50

    City centre, Irish pub I was in during 2018, 50cl beer = 3.90 - 4.50

    Some idea of prices above.

4.10 for 50cl Augustiner Helles, so 4.66 per pint.

4.20 for weissbier, so 4.77 per pint.

Its brilliant. Download the Lonely Planet Guides app, will let you pick the best of what to do, save it and filter it onto a map for yourself.

Went to all the usual bierhaus, went on a walking tour and if football is your thing I would recommend the Munich stadium tour. Is not overly far out of the city and is an impressive stadium.

if you are there the weekend after next then you could be in luck with tickets for an actual Bayern Munich game against Berlin.
Theres a couple of dozen tickets on sale here at cost price through the club, no membership required .
    https://tickets.fcbayern.com/Internetverkaufzweitmarkt/EventList.aspx
its a resale site, so tickets come and go , but keep trying and you should get sorted eventually.

as for beer, yea its 0.5L and not an imperial pint but its 5.2% to 5.5% alcohol (or a little more) compared to the 4% ish for Irish beers, so in the end reasonably comparible.

Beer and food has gotten dearer in the city centre in the past few years in the tourist traps in or around Marienplatz (but still nowhere near prices you get in Temple Bar or Paris or Stockholm or Copenhagen or New York or Amsterdam etc ) but go a little out and you'll still get a feed of Currywurst and Chips for less than a tenner or a decent schnitzel for just over it.

For example in the Atzinger or Alter Simpl (up by the university which has heaps of bars and restaurants all round it) https://www.atzingermuenchen.de/speisekarten.html or https://www.altersimpl.de/speisekarten.html (same lad owns them) so currywurst and chips for €6.90, a burger and chips for €8.50 , and a beer around the €4

If youve a day ticket for the city transport then you can move about then quickly and easily and arent restricted to the very centre of the city centre. Ubahns run till about 2.30am and theres night busses every 15 minutes from the university area to the city centre every 15minutes, and your day ticket covers that with no extra cost till 6am the next morning. Google maps is good for timetables even if they dont do realtime info yet.

Yeah thats what I was thinking myself, prices may not be much different but the beer itself is surely a lot better and stronger?

As for the football, think we are over there the weekend bayern play dortmund at home so not much chance of going to a game, still be good atmosphere around the city for that I suppose.
Will definitely get the stadium tour in

The stadium tour is good enough. Kinda long journey out to it.

You should look into the old Olympic stadium - you can pay in and walk around it yourself which is quite cool as it is very high and all single tier. It gets very nervy at the top with only a small barrier to stop you falling over. You can (I didn't know this at the time so it was too late) book and pay for (about 80e I think) to absail off the roof of the stadium too. There is a decent fanpark type thing around it with food stalls and drink too.

The English gardens are great if the weather is good with a bierhall in the middle of it.

The beer is way nicer than our generic ones alright and it'll be a bit cheaper as well. You might pay €4 for a pint of something that would be considered "craft" beer here costing you maybe €6+

The Olympic park, the swimming pool (and you can try out the Olympic diving boards - even if you just wan to belly-flop) and BMW world if you're evenly interested in flashy cars. They are all accessible from the same metro stop

The Hofbrau Haus is good fun. Especially if a sing song gets going.
