I'm 12 weeks today 😀! Nearly in the second trimester yay! I had my booking appointment and scan during the week. Was amazing to see the baby there definitely was a difference from my 9 week scan. The baby looked much more defined and was moving around loads stretching out its whole little body kicking the arms and feet and waving the it's hands up around it's face! Was amazing to see and made it seem more real. I had gestational diabetes on my last pregnancy and have checked my blood sugar a few times and it's been all over the place and so feel terrible absolutely terrible when it goes high so I'm on a no/low sugar diet and have to go to diabetes clinic at start of June. Anyone feel like their morning sickness nausea is easing up? Mine has a teeny tiny bit but it's not gone!

Also as regards testing like the harmony test I think you can get it done in your maternity hospital. When I had my scan during the week the told me about it. It is optional so you do have to pay she said you can ring the ultrasound department in Rotunda anyways and organise it! I'm deciding whether to get it...don't think I will think it would actually end up giving me more anxiety!

I agree, think it would make me worry even more and I'm already worrying enough!

I know how you feel with the morning sickness coz I had it very bad in my last two pregnancies. Naturally enough I thought I would be the same again but no,nothing! It's so strange to me. I almost wish I was feeling sick just for the reassurance if that makes sense?

I'm 9 weeks today and so far have just had rhinitis (which I have normally anyway) and achy breasts a couple of times. It kinda feels like I have little or no pregnancy symptoms and it makes me so paranoid. I'm waking up each morning hoping to feel sick just so I can relax, but I never do! Is that crazy? :-(

Hopefully the scan in a few weeks will put my mind at rest.

Melanie I am 9 weeks on Tuesday (snooping in here from the January 2018 thread) and not a symptom kind. Didn't really have anything the last time either but like you I'd just like the reassurance of something! Our little man is 19months and i think I'm just too busy to notice tiredness.

What do people think are the chances of being called for scan before I hit the 12 week mark? (Cavan BTW) My sister is getting married when i am 12+3 and I'd like to be able to tell our news around wedding time ( not to steal the bride's thunder or anything but it just might be fairly obvious when bridesmaid is on the Ballygowan for the night!)

Heldel I got my booking in appt at 11 weeks, I'm in Galway. You could book a private scan?

Dating scan first at 11+3,then clinic visit a week later. Was thinking of ringing to see if I can change any days or even time of day. Would they be accommodating with this does anyone know or am I wasting my time?! I know they're crazy busy so maybe not v.flexible? It's CUMH by the way.

I would ask - maybe you can postpone the first appointment to the day of the clinic? Not sure how it works in CUMH though.

I am planning on asking them about it tomorrow at my appointment as I had read here some maternity hospitals offer it. Might be a little cheaper than the private companies.

My scan is for 11.5 weeks and I am with Galway. Just have to wait and see I guess, you could be lucky. Otherwise I would get a private scan so you can announce when you want!

Have been keeping an eye on this thread for the last couple of weeks but finally bit the bullet and joined!

Due on Christmas Day and feeling good at the moment.

Does anyone else feel like it's such a long road to go? I wonder when it hits the second trimester do the weeks go quicker??

Yes i feel a bit like that at the moment. Coming up to 12 weeks this Friday and def feel like it's dragging. Not feeling great either, but not overly sick at the same time? Just yucky and tired and not able to eat much.

I've resorted to bringing nuts in my handbag when I go anywhere as sometimes a wave of weakness has come over me and it's normally if I haven't eaten in a while. Little and often seems to be working for me though.

Dating scan tomorrow. Got a phone call this afternoon asking if I could be in Cavan General for 2:45 tomorrow. Very late notice bit I'm delighted so not gonna complain. 9 weeks tomorrow. Didn't expect it for another week or two at least

  • Registered Users Posts: 103 ✭✭LittleBoBeep

We have our scan tomorrow evening ( I actually thought it was Wed :O) I'm kinda scared but excited. I guess i'm nervous in case something is wrong but hopefully all goes well.

Anyone else waking up at all hours for no reason?? I keep waking every night any time from 4am onwards. I usually go back asleep but it's very strange as i wouldn't usually wake that early.

I do to pee, last 8 weeks have been up every night. Slept last night for nearly 7 hours straight and I feel so much better now. Its crazy how lack of sleep affects your day.

    Have my scan today :D

Oh best of luck Lashes. Is this your first scan? I can't remember if you have had one yet or not?

    Im not peeing yet. :D

Im on hols next week for 9 nights so i can't wait. Although my appetite is gone completely weird and not in humour of eating much at all at the mo. No harm as i really don't want to be putting on more weight that necessary as i already struggle with my weight.

No I have had 4! 3 in the EPU and one to get formally discharged from my fertility clinic. Just hoping all is ok since my last one at 9 weeks.

So today's lunch consisted of Crisp roll, jam doughnut and bottle of orange lucozade :o

Anyone else struggling with their appetite/diet? So hard to eat healthily at the mo.

Oh thanks god it isn't just me! I had a breakfast roll yesterday morning and felt great, today I had weetabix and got sick! This baby doesn't want me eating healthy at all. Actually every time I've been sick I've been eating something healthy:( I give up!!!

Mad isn't it? My friend who's due her baby now in a few weeks was the exact same. Just wanted crap all the time. Wonder why that is? It's only that im relating to it as im pregnant for the first time.

Ive gone off nearly everything i would normally eat, and don't want dinners or biggish meals at all.

Yep exactly the same here, made lasagne last night, my favourite, 1/2 went in the bin and felt like ****e. I've been having cereal for dinner the last few weeks, think I'll go back to that and hope it improves after the 12 wk mark!

So had my scan yesterday and all looks good. So weird, it actually looks like a baby now! Got my date for the glucose test and my 20 weeks scan so great to have them scheduled now.

    Still doesnt feel real :o

shortstuff! how long are you being kept on the progesterone?

Oh it's so exciting when it actually looks like a real person in there!

On it until the 12 week mark, coming off it, aspirin and high dosage folic. I'll just be on omega 3 and vitamin D then, can't wait! Though I'd say I'll feel nervous coming off them, it's been so reassuring knowing I'm doing something to protect the pregnancy.

    How about you?

What are the reasons for Vit D and Omega 3? Are there benefits to taking them along with Pregnacare?

I am on it til 13 weeks but the doc said I could reduce to once a day for the last week and then every second day for a while if I didnt want to go from twice a day to nothing so am going to do that. Little nervous of coming off it but hopefully all will be ok.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16 crestedten

Vitamin D is for your's and Baby's bones. Omega 3 is for Baby's brain, nerves and eyes. Both are in Pregnacare in adequate quantities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭shortstuff!

What she said!!! Wasn't sure what the omega 3was for just doing what I was told ha!! The specialist said he doesn't rate pregnacare that it's just overpriced & well advertised! Pretty sure it made me sick on 1st pregnancy so was happy to not take it! Have a huge box of it here tho if anyone wants it?!

So we had our scan on Tuesday and it was amazing. Got to see the little one! Our dates are bang on so due 17th December. Waiting on harmony test results now which will take 10 days.

Sickness is starting to ease thankfully. Hope everyone else is feeling good

Oh ya I wake around 6 now, about 15 mins before my alarm but before it was 3 or 4 and then no sleep after so this is a big improvement. They changed my due date to 13th Dec after my scan so 12+2 now!

Well based on my last period my due date was 13th Dec but because the IUI was a few days late it was revised but they are happy I am measuring to the 13th so going with that. Happy with the earlier date, at least if I go over I have more chance of being brought in before Christmas.

Has anyone on here looked into getting the early scans or anything like that? We are looking at getting one in blackrock as we are based close by but I've seen there is one in cherrywood too any feedback on either of these would be great. We are now 11+3

I've had 3 scans so far. Two with the fertility centre we went to at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and paid for a private scan at 10.5 weeks. Have my hospital scan at 12 weeks. It really helps with the waiting to get to 12 weeks. Do you have your date for your hospital scan yet?

Yeah our date for the hospital scan isn't until August but would like to get one done sooner so we were looking into private scans just looking for opinions and feedback of how worthwhile they are really

Wow, that's really late! I thought everyone got a scan around 12-14 weeks. I would definitely recommend getting a private scan anyway. It's so amazing to see the tiny baby moving around. Makes it feel more real for me anyway. For the sake of 100 Euro it's worth it.

This is our first so was unsure of scan dates and such. Where are you based as we are looking at a coupe of places in Dublin but unsure of which would be best.

Based in Cork but I'd imagine all scans at 12ish weeks are the same.

Not all hospitals offer the 12 week scan and not all do the 20 week. Luckily ours do both. Sligo doesnt do the 12 week but does at 20. Its scandalous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭mollybird

haven't been on in ages but everything still going well with us. Nausea still pretty bad and was really upset last night with how sick i am of being sick. ive just hit the 10 week mark this week and we have our hospital apt in 2 weeks and then we get to tell our family and friends. I was planning on doing the mini martahon in dub in the morning but will have to tell friends and family i got a bug and that's why i can't do it. bloody hate lying to people as have had one or two people wishing me luck for tomorrow and have had a few donations come in too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,514 ✭✭✭bee06

Had my 12 week scan today and everything is looking good. Now to start telling everyone. I don't suppose it's acceptable to just send out a group text?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 709 ✭✭✭lashes34

How did the announcement go bee06?!

I am 13+1 today, was hoping the exhaustion would magically disappear but it hasnt :(

Have ye looked at buggies/travel system yet? We went for a look last weekend, its so difficult.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,514 ✭✭✭bee06

Told my family last night and it was grand. No tears or major fuss thankfully! Must tell my manager today and the parents in law at the weekend.

Haven't even started thinking about the minefield of buggies, car seats etc! My sister in law has 2 kids so will be asking her advice I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭geez

Hi all hope everyone is well! 14weeks and much more energy thank god. We are going looking at buggies etc this weekend! What are other people thinking? The uppababy seems popular and I love the bugaboo chameleon. I feel like I'm huge already trying to make sure I eat well but that doesn't happen all the time😬

Geez we went for a look last week, the uppababy vista and bugaboo cameleon were top for us but the vista is what we kept coming back to. Its so difficult though and I havent a clue what we will end up going with. Not planning on ordering until after my 20 week scan but kinda wanted to decide and be done. All the other stuff I havent a clue of!

Hey everyone we went for an early scan the other day everything is going great very exciting to see the baby moving around and knowing everything is ok. We are now 12+5. Seen a thing online in the baby elegance shops they have a new baby bundle for €999 it has a cot high chair bath buggy car seat changing table and alot of other stuff. It looks very good to me just wondering has anyone else seen it or have thoughts on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 709 ✭✭✭lashes34

Yep I did look into it, not in great detail but the buggy doesnt get good reviews. Would like to see it all in real life though and decide then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,000 ✭✭✭andreac

Yeah we looked in to that bundle too as it looked great but buggy not rated good at all so think we are going with something different. Himself wants a bugaboo but I'd like to try a few diff ones before we decide.
I heard the uppa baby is good too.

We had our 12 week scan on Wed. All good. Had bloods etc with midwife. Scan went well and all looks good. I'm actually 13 weeks today.
They said I don't go for another scan until I'm 20 weeks or so and that's the anomaly scan.
They said I had ketones in my urine and midwife asked was I finding it hard eating and drinking and I am. It's not serious but just something to be careful of.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16 crestedten

I'm gonna show myself up as the clueless man I am here, but could someone fill me in on what's so great about these Bugaboos? All I keep hearing is about how all the "bloggers"have them and then hearing prices of 1500 quid tossed around. Are they actually some amazing product that makes them worth 3 times what most of the equivalent systems I've seen are, or are you just paying for the prestige of having the same buggy as a few randomers on Snapchat?
