Anyway thanks ladies for letting me drop in on your thread and have a little moan about life. It's been a great experience in that it's reminded me how awful the first trimester can be, and might help delay trying for baby number two for another wee while at least!

That said, I'm lying here in bed with my gorgeous three month old beside me, who is the most wonderful, glorious, beautiful thing that's ever happened to me. You all have incredible things ahead of you, worth every last queasy moment!

I had my appointment with my own GP last week who had put me on a high dose of folic acid. I'm waiting now for an appointment with Mullingar hospital. Does anyone know how long it takes to come?

I'm so sick, nearly every evening after dinner so I think i need to cut out having dinner and maybe eat less more often during the day.

We are 7+3 today I was looking at the early scan you can get privately and was thinking of booking one of those! Think they are €96 are they worth it? Can it even show anything this early?

You poor thing, Im very lucky so far. Feeling sick most of the time along with light headedness but just so glad I havent been sick yet.

You wont see much at 7 weeks but you will see the heartbeat flickering away. I had my followup appointment at the hospital last Friday at 7 weeks and could see the heartbeat with the ultrasound whereas 8 days earlier it had to be internal to see anything. If you wait until 9 weeks you should be able to see more. I am back for another scan in the EPU at 9 weeks and have my 12 week at 11+5.

Just thinking back to this time last year and all I could eat was pizza and cornflakes. The nausea and food aversion was tough! Turned out I was expecting twins! Best wishes to the Dec 17 mums.

i'm at 6+3 and ive had the quesiness for the past 4/5 days and im all ready sick of it to be honest. boobs don't seem to be as sore today thank god. im def holding off on looking at anything major till im at the 12 week mark. been window shopping all right but that's about it. ive even held off getting my free eu mom bag of goodies in supervalu till im in the safe zone.

we just got our first home and been hoping to have friends over to see it but now i want to hold off till im after 12 weeks as i don't want to be lying to everyone why im not having a drink. so will have loads of people over from start of july till sept at least. haha!!!

    What is that?!

I got the baby box from Lidl but that is the height of baby stuff in the house. I wont even let myself look at options for buggy etc yet, its just too early.

I was eating dry cornflakes in bed at 12.30am lastnight, better not be a sign :D

Big dinners were killing me too, even though I was starving, I've had to cut them back to much smaller portions and lighter meals.

Awake since 4 and can't get back to sleep. Turned over in bed and screamed in pain, don't know if the cyst is getting bigger or what but it's killing me. Due back to the hospital tomorrow week but might need to go before that especially when I'm due to go on holidays that day and don't want to risk them saying I can't go because I didn't get it checked when it got worse. Don't know what to do, might ring the EPU and see what they say.

Did you contact the EPU lashes? That doesn't sound good I'd say it is the cyst. Is there anything they can do? I hope you get sorted.

Funny the mention of twins I have thought a few times maybe I'm having twins like who knows...Though honestly not sure how I'd handle that, one baby is hard enough can't even imagine two! I have my scan on Monday can't wait!

I didnt as I feel a good bit better now and actually slept most of last night for the first time in weeks. Will see how the next few days go.

    Good luck with the scan!

Sorry to hear that, it must be so difficult waiting that long to know. Why do they have to wait so long?

Hi all, been following for awhile now! I'm due either New Year's Eve or Day! I've had 2 mcs this year and no period between the last one and this pregnancy so not exactly sure of dates. Seeing a specialist this time round who's put me on a cocktail of drugs. Scanned me at 5+3 and looked good, back again next week for another scan so fingers crossed :)

Sorry to hear that. I'd recommend you go to your gp and get them to test your hcg levels and then again 2 days later if they didn't in the hospital. At least then you'll know either way. Every hospital seems to have different policies, in mullingar you do blood test and scan and if not good/definitive, come back 2 days later for repeat bloods and scan. I hope you get good news x

Just to say for your own price of mind if you can afford it consider going for a private scan. I had to wait a week before mine and I was honestly climbing the walls. It was 100e for ours and crucial for my own mental health.

On a side note, I haven't unsubscribed-I'm not sure if everyone is ok with that? I like to see everyone's updates

So sorry to hear that, I found it difficult going back to the hospital when I already knew the result so be kind to yourself especially tomorrow x

Good. Life has thrown a curve ball in that I need bunion surgery on both feet and obviously can't be TTC with a general anaesthetic so I'm a bit up in the air about things. Will probably keep TTC until July then stop if we haven't been lucky. Then surgery in August. If I do get pregnant then I'll probably do one on the end of maternity leave, then the other in the summer hols. Thats the plan anyways but sure we'll see how it goes!

I'm enjoying following you all. Nuttykat I hope you are ok

That sounds painful - hope it all works out for you.

I have a followup scan in the hospital on Friday, will be 9 weeks that day. Hopefully there is still a heartbeat in there. Off on hols then Friday evening for a week with my family, the hubby has to work.

Then just 2.5 weeks after this scan I have my 12 week. Can't wait to get there, will be a hassle hurdle to pass hopefully. On progesterone until 14 weeks and then will be drug free all going well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭shortstuff!

Today's a bit of a milestone, lost my baby at the end of March at this stage. Have a scan tomorrow so hopefully there'll be a heartbeat. I'm also on progesterone (twice daily) Lashes, hopefully it does the trick!

Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you go.

I had another scan today (8+1) and got to see the heartbeat. Also got my maternity hospital appointments but the scan is on the day we get back from holidays so have to reschedule. It's all starting to feel bit real!

Nuttykat I am so sorry for your loss! I had a miscarriage in February, just make sure you have someone to talk to, take care of yourself.

Mirrorwall fingers crossed for a positive soon, hope your doing ok :-).
Lashes and shortstuff good luck with your scans let us know how you get on.

I had my scan in the EPU on Monday all was well got to see the heart beat and everything was great. Though I thought I was 10 weeks but I am apparently 9 weeks - though it's hard to know as I didn't have a period in between miscarriage and getting pregnant again. Was such a relief to see the little tiny baby. My only small thing now is when the midwife booked me for my epu scan I thought I would be 10 weeks and then she gave me my booking appointment scan for two weeks later where I thought I would be 12 weeks but now I will only be 11 weeks. Should I ring them and change it or do you think it would be ok?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭spottybananas

I was 11 weeks for my booking appointment last week and it was fine.

We have a heartbeat! Measuring exactly on date so all good so far, due New Years Eve:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,514 ✭✭✭bee06

Grr, rang the hospital to reschedule my scan and their office hours are 10-11 and 2-3 which they didn't even put of the bloody letter!

Hi. I'm 6weeks pregnant and rang rotunda hospital yesterday for my first visit appointment. Got the letter today and it says appointment is on July 3. I'd be around 13-14 weeks then. Is that how it really is? It's my first time there and I kinda thought first check is earlier than that. I hope to get enlightened. Thanks very much.

On my first pregnancy two years ago my first appointment was at 15 weeks, I got it brought back to 13 as I was going on holiday. It wasn't in the rotunda but its pretty standard in some hospitals. This time round it was at 11 weeks.

Hi everyone, been lurking here for a couple of weeks but didn't want to post till I had been to the doctor! 6+5 with my third. So excited!

Luckily not much sickness yet but I'm expecting it any day as I was unbelievably sick with my other two (had to carry a plastic bag with me everywhere I went in case of sudden vomiting!) My ankles are the size of balloons though which I didn't expect this early on! The joys,eh?

Best of luck to everyone here, it's a long road ahead of us!

Shortstuff, I'm the same as you - due New Years Eve! :-)

So I'm probabily panacking but I've very light bleeding at the minute maybe spotting? Should I be worried? If it gets worse do I go to the doctor or the hospital? We haven't had a meeting with the hospital yet just met our doctor before. I'm definitely starting to freak out :(

You could call your gp and ask their advice, or call the maternity department of the hospital you will be going to.

Hi ladies. Can i jump on?

Im 9 weeks today. I was holding off posting for a bit, as a few people know me on boards.

Im due around 15th December. Had a scan already as we are going private and have another next week.

All going well so far. Not really any pregnancy symptoms, but i was very sick 2 weeks ago with a chest infection and dose which has floored me to be honest. Still not feeling 100% but getting there.

Congrats Andreac! Where are you attending privately? I'm going private too this time but they won't see me til 12 weeks so seeing a specialist for the 1st trimester as I've miscarried twice this year. Seems a huge variance between hospitals! Hope you feel better, hard to recover from illness when your body is so focused on growing a baby!

    Hi.
I'm going with a consultant months coombe. Dr Michael connor. He does an early scan at 8 weeks as part of his package then another at 10 weeks. Doing like a combined care with him and few appts with my own doc.

Yeah I was feeling so well up until I got that dose and I'm jist not feeling right since it but maybe now it's the pregnancy coming through a little with symptoms. Hard to know.
Very tired this week I have to say. Taking that spatone supplement to see would that help at all.

How did you get on with the gp?

    Hi Short,

I didn't go to them in the end. I couldn't get through on the phone so rang my partner instead who told me to stop panicking because it can be normal. I left work early Friday and have been on bed rest since. It's incredibly light, minuscule almost but if it's still there tomorrow i'll try the GP again. I think I over-exerted myself with work and took on too much.

I had an awful dream last night and woke up at 5am thinking the worst. We are 9 weeks today and no appointment for a scan yet (some people have said Mullingar can be late scanning you and may only scan you twice). I think we may go for a private scan at 11 weeks for our own piece of mind. I have no idea what consultant we are even under.

Hope everyone else is feeling well and welcome to our newest members =)

Scanme.ie are great for private scans and are in Mullingar. Light spotting can often just be irritated cervix or existing cervical erosion etc, I had it at 10 weeks with my son and a gush of bright red at 20 weeks and there was no problem or reason found.

(Poking my nose in from the November 2017 thread!)

You can also experience spotting after sex, as there is a lot of extra bloodflow down there.

Yes it can be totally fine, 2close friends had it quite a lot, worrying obviously but no harm to their babies. Would also recommend scanme.ie, they are lovely there!

Had my 2nd scan yesterday. There was some difference in 2 weeks. It actually looks like a little person now. Back on the 7th June for my full appt with the nurse for the bloods etc. I will be nearly 13 weeks then.
