In the 1911 census an 18 year old male family member had A P down as his occupation. Does anyone know what that could be?

Link? It seems to be used in other census entries as abbreviation for apprentice.

No idea. Saw it on 1901 as well.

Sorry, I have a few more posts to do before I can put up a link. A P is all it says though.

    suspect it stands for Apprentice...
many of the matches on a search have an additional trade, e.g. A P Driller in Shipyard, A P Barber, Mechanic A P

Thanks Shane and CeannRua, it could be an apprentice for stonemason then. His father and two brothers were stonemasons.
