Telephone/alarm cable?

    Hi All,

    I pulled the carpet in the house and accidentally snipped a very long wire which to me looks like a telephone cable running up the stairs. Am I right in saying if it was an alarm cable it would have set off the alarm? I am just concerned before I take it out altogether. The wiring colouring is black, red, green, yellow if that helps confirm the cable type?

    Any help much appreciated. Thank you

    The core colours on a 4 care alarm cable are red, black, blue and yellow.


    If you bend the cable does it stay slightly in the position or is is flexible ?


    The cable core colours on yours seem to me like a telephone cable, but it is not unknown for such cables to be used for alarm wiring.
