Even at 2hrs/day I'm seeing a return within a year.
That sounds way off - To be honest I'd rather calculate the numbers myself rather than use an online calculator.

From here, the Power consumption difference in them is about 100W.

From some prices on Amazon (UK), I came up with a crude difference of around €38. This model & this model for instance. This will depend on which models you pick of course.

With some Irish electricity prices, I picked a number of around €0.17/kwhr, which is probably a bit high.

    So then the Cost Delta/Hour = 0.1kW (100W) * 0.17 (kW/hr rate) * 1.135 (13.5% Irish VAT rate) = €0.02043 more per hour for the 590.

Then the time to re-coup that cost = €38 / €0.02043 = 1860 hours. Not too far off two years if gaming 20 hours per week.

May have been some confusion as to what constitutes normal normal use is different for everyone. Also neither cards consume much when idling at desktop. Regardless, it's well known that Nvdidia cards are more power efficient but for me the deal breaker is that Nvdidia only supports Freesync through Display Port and that's something my monitor doesn't have.

The 1660 series are probably the better choice going new, but used the RX cards offer much better value even with their increase consumption. Also AMD have much better increase of performance over time through their drivers. Nvidia usually does the complete opposite...

Just to clarify - I'm not saying get one over the other. I'm just saying basing that decision upon costs savings based on the difference in power draw doesn't make sense, the numbers above show that. ;)
