Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How does HAP work?

Been reading online in relation to how much you get for certain areas etc but still not fully sure of how it works.

Basically my situation has a changed a bit recently in relation to how myself and my family are renting the current place and I might need to apply for HAP.

I am working full time (Under 20,000 a year) my partner is on job seekers and we have two young kids. The rent limit on HAP in my area is 1275 euro. Say for example the rent is 2100 euro how does it work than when they means test you?

This is the part I am not sure about how much would we actually be paying then?

Any help on this would be great cheers!

You'd pay a weekly contribution to the council based on your means and you'd have to top up the difference between the limit and the rent yourself to the landlord

Thanks for the reply! The reason I am finding it hard to understand the whole setup is that looking at things I don't think we will be able to afford to rent on hap with our current income so how could someone on social welfare alone afford it?

Higher rate for a lone person.
