    Hey,
Looking for hiking boots, either in or near Dublin. Have a car, so able to travel. Googling "boots' gets me the chemists.

Although I prefer Magnum, I'm open to other brands, but refuse to buy Chinese brands (am aware that Magnum has their boots glued in Vietnam).

I currently have a pair of Danner Acadia boots, and although I intend to post them back (to the USA) to have their soles redone, it'll mean I'll have no boots in the meantime. So looking for a cheap €100 or so boots to wear in the meantime. When I get the Danner boots resoled, I'll use these boots for odd jobs that risk scuffing, etc.

Have found that US13/UK12.5/EUR48 suits me, once the width is EE, so am fairly comfortable ordering online from within Ireland or the UK if the price is reasonable.

Used to buy in Millets on Mary Street, but they're closed. Heathers are also closed :(

I know little about hiking boots but I know my brother usually goes for Merrell or Salomon.

You won't get a pair of hiking boots in Dublin for e100. Maybe five years ago or for a child but not adult s42. I looked about valliantly this year - pre and post Christmas and at Easter and simply found it was e200 + or nothing. There is a major brand who I cannot rememver the name of -bought a pair but even through grass they were letting in water and I had to return them - they were e120 for ankle height hiking boots supposedly waterproof & a disaster..

    Places :

Hiking shop down near old Abbey St food court down alongside the Christian bookshop and Arnotts sale shop

Arnotts sale shop and Main shop Arnotts itself

    Scout shop

Capel Street hiking shop down near Butlers chocolate shop - on same road where the halfpenny bridge meets the north quay side

Talbot Street -upstairs big new sports shop beside Deals/e2 shop & across from old side entrance to Clearys

Army surplus shop down Capel St near Slatterys pub and other outdoor and tent/ hiking boot shop a few doors up.

Try your luck - a point for ecery shop you find with my very Irish directions!

Forgot - I didnt bother going to the big outlets but everyone told me to go to Sandyfold where there is a big new sports shop - 53 degrees North !!! Also the like of TK Max you might get lucky -I didn't but they have a big shoe section and sometimes you can puck up a bargin in specialised sports gear. Ialso tried lifestyle and Champion shopts to no avail but you might be luckier. G'luck!

Traditonally, the place to go to buy outdoor footwear in Dublin has been Great Outdoors, now based on South Great Georges Street. Their staff just seem to be better trained in fitting footwear.

I have bought several pairs of boots and trail shoes there, and I can recommend them from personal experience.

God no gelert and karrimor most of there stuff is bargain basement.

You can get high quality Solomons from about 80 to 200 (look for the GTX boots )depending on your budget Syco .
Merrells are ok but limited to low - mid walking shoes

Or you could look at hobby Airsoft in ballymount off the greenhills road they stock magnum and 5.11

After that Protac in the curragh would stock magnums and hiax military style boots
