Recently theres been a lot of cases of formerly well loved public figures whose reputations have plummented,many though not all as a result of sex abuse allegations.In the case of Jimmy Saville I don't think he was really all that well liked deep down,and there were dodgy rumours about him floating about for a long time.

Rolf Harris,long established childrens entertainer,painter of the Queens portrait and cuddly figure.I have to admit like most people I never suspected anything untoward about him.

Michael Barrymore,a huge TV star in the 80s and 90s.He had drink and drugs issues but seemed to be getting over that when the Stuart Lubbock case in 2001 killed his career stone dead and its never recovered.

UK actor Peter Adamson, he played Len Fairclough in Corrie and was a national celebrity making pots of cash from personal appearances opening supermarkets and the like. He was accused of child molestation and cleared at a trial but was sacked by Granada TV when he sold his story to the tabloids. He died in poverty and obscurity in 2002.

Well the dead guy turned up in Barrymores pool following some kind of sex party which meant a field day for the tabloids which might not have affected his career too much if he was a hellraising rock star but very much so for a light entertainment TV personality.

They had to take an immediate action on it though, and if I were in their position that would've been my first aim too; to sever all ties with him. Racism in 2015 is a PR nightmare and any relationship with it, even through a 3rd party can be awfully damaging.

WWE are getting more coverage than ever before on ESPN in America, and still being associated with Hogan (even if not publicly siding with him) could be disastrous. They have a new TV deal with USA (tv station) bringing their 2nd show onto it making their top two shows available on the same channel. They just couldn't risk having ANYTHING to do with Hogan at this stage.

It's funny looking at all of the spoofers who thought Hogan was gonna be on Celebrity Big Brother on the immediate back of the scandal. His agents (even if they were asked) would've refused 6 figure sums to go onto it. Imagine his first public appearance since the scandal being Big Brother UK. Instead he went onto Good Morning America.

It's as clichéd as it gets, but in Pro Wrestling, 'never say never' has never been more true than for this situation. He'll be back.

Severing ties and distancing themselves from him is one thing, to try to completely erase arguably the most iconic name in the sport from their history is a bit much. Im no fan of Hogan in general, but from what I have read up on the reaction from the WWE has been overdone.

Tom Cruise,maybe not in quite as dramatic a fashion as those already mentioned but theres been a gradual cooling of the publics love affair with him.The whole Scientology thing,his sofa jumping appearence on Oprah and the split with Kathy Holmes have turned a lot of people off him.

Obvious choice but the fall from favour of Gary Glitter has been bigger than most.If youre old enough like me to remember before they found child porn on his computer in 1997 he was riding the crest of a wave on the nostalgia/70s revival tour circuit.He regularly appeared on chatshows including The Late Late Show.His big hit singles from the 70s were regulerly played on classic rock slots and you'd often see clips of his old TOTP appearences on music shows about glam rock etc.He even had a part in The Spice Girls movie which was due to be released just before the laptop thing,they did some frantic reshooting in that case and replaced him with Nobby Stiles of Slade.Basicly you never hear any of his songs on the radio anymore or any mention of him on any of those BBC4 music shows about the 70s or Glam Rock.Hes been erased totally.

Both were accused of child abuse, but neither were convicted, and both are now back on the programme. However, their reputations just aren't the same as they were before the accusations, as now there is a seed of doubt in people's minds. It doesn't matter what I think (and we have to put our faith in the justice system) but William Roache strikes me as a very odd individual. Michael Le Vell seems like a decent ordinary bloke though. Although I suppose some perpetrators of abuse seem decent and ordinary too.

Yeah there is something a bit weird and creepy about William Roach,you're not the only person to get that vibe off him.In the case of Michael Le Velle I think he came out of that court case looking more pathetic and sad really,with all that stuff about his marathon boozing sessions and cheating on his wife being brought out in the public domain.

Ian Watkins of the band Lost Prophets.Have to admit I was only vaguely aware of them before it came out about him.Feel sorry for the other members of the band,they seemed to have been genuinely unaware of his carry on and they'll always be associated with him.The council in his hometown had to afterwards remove paving slabs that had been inscribed with his lyrics.

I never picked up on anything creepy from Bill Roache, but put it like this, he has been on the soap since he was 28. He is now nearly 83. He said in an interview that for most of his life he has had women come up to him and offer him sex or anything he wanted. He doesn't say so, but that has to have an effect on someone.

Does anyone like Naomi Campbell anymore?I remember the time when she was engaged to Adam Clayton appearing with Gaybo(or was it Pat?) and she was a stunner and I think admired by the public largely.She diden't take long to ditch him.Since then shes been hopping her mobile phone off her maid,attacking her driver,abusing airline staff and to cap it all then she was hauled in front of that enquiry a couple of years ago and questioned about accepting diamonds from Charles Taylor,the now jailed Liberian warlord and all round psychopath.Briefly caught her appearence on Tubridy the other night and she came across as a mess.

The guy who played Pee Wee Herman,Paul Reubens.He did a lot of successfull films with that character and a TV series but then he was arrested masturbating in a cinema and that pretty much ended that.There was something else to do with child porn a few years later though charges were dropped.

He's done a lot of voice work recently. Probably one of the few people to end up having their career smashed twice, as he was starting to do some movie work again when the second charges occured.
