Repairing a semi-solid floor

I recently had an old fireplace and hearth removed leaving an gap of 54 ins wide x 18.25 ins deep in the semi-solid floor in the living room so this area needs to be replaced with flooring and a skirting board.

I cannot afford to have the whole room re-floored and unfortunately have no spare flooring - does anyone know if a reasonable patch-work job might be possible?

Did you buy the flooing?
If so try the shop where you bought it, they may be able to get some.

Bear in mind that it's possible that the floor colour may have aged.

Or try a few flooring shops that specialise in wooden flooring and they might be able to help.

Hi, the flooring was in the house when we moved in a good few years ago. At this stage we probably won't get a perfect match but will check out a few flooring shops and do what we can come up with. Thanks for replying.

Is the current floor glued down?

Not sure tbh, I can see blue plastic underneath the edges. I can slightly lift the edges so it seems to me like it's just sitting on top of the plastic rather than glued.
