Long time lurker, first time poster. Leeds fan since the late 80's, it's good to see I'm not suffering alone these days!! Delighted about McDermott getting the job, onwards & upwards from next season I hope. Though, having seen the pics, I won't be splashing out on the new home jersey, it's absolutely gank, reminds me of some of the kappa horror shows from a few years back... Anyway, just letting ye all know there's yet another fan around... Keep the faith!!!

Welcome to our deluded, frequently depressed, but somehow always merry little band.

I reckon this is what the club should have designed the new kit on.http://www.lufcsuperstore.com/retro/product/1992-championship-shirt/colour/one-colour it might show the current crop of players what that team back then achieved.

If we want to do that then this should be the kit :)

I wouldn't want the Thistle Hotels logo back on it.:)

I didn't have the 1992 championship shirt, I had the Top Man one instead. Being a poor teenager at the time, it took ages to save up to buy!! Whereas now, being an only slightly wealthier adult, it'll just take an age to have the spare cash to buy it... Definitely want it though... My memory of the replica jersey at the time was that the material was as scratchy as a barbed wire sock, I hope this version isn't as bad...

That's from the days long before there were sponsors names on shirts. :)

My 1st jersey was 1982 it had thin yellow and blue lines. EFW stuck on the front. It was like a 1920s baseball jersey/pajama top. God I loved that jersey.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

Still have my first jersey at home, must post a pic. It's the white topman one :) loved it. And the logo hasnt fallen off yet unlike some of the newer ones. Remember the blue and navy away stripe one we had round 2008 I think? Loved that.

Amen brother! :) Have me the non exclusive version of this (i.e. without the valuable Centenary Cup Final logo) - this one http://www.retrofootyshirt.co.uk/images/detailed/leeds.jpg

Yep, I did well all right. :) Even better is that she insisted on it being hung in the living room as people wouldn't get to see it otherwise.

Cheeky mate of mine just sent me a message: "Like the new Leeds kit?" Not amused...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭tim_holsters

I hated the new shirt at first but it's grown on me just a little bit, when it's viewed on the players from head to toe the "blue" is less prominent because they have at least managed to get the shorts and socks right.

Why they couldn't have just left the stripe(s) off is puzzling, the kit would have been almost ideal then forgetting the abysmal collar. Every Leeds fan wants an all white kit at home without exception.

I suppose what's softened my attitude on this kit a little at least is the fact that I absolutely hated last year's effort. The tabard or dinner lady or whatever you want to call it shirt coupled with the equally appalling shorts well the whole ensemble was an absolute disaster.

So after some reflection I'm liking this year's kit better than last year's but the bar was set very very very low.

i don't like the new shirt at all but came home after a few pints last night and ordered it anyway. oh well!

Laptop + alcohol = empty bank account. I know, Ive done it :D

Im not getting it. I think it would look awful on women. especially with the stripe down the front :(

So who fancies our chances V Brighton today?!?!?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭punk77

    Today's team vs Brighton:

Kenny, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Tonge, Austin, Green, Diouf, McCormack, Varney.

Subs: Cairns, Drury, Peltier, White, Brown, Morison, Poleon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭punk77

Late change to team and subs. Peltier replaces Byram and Hall added to subs.
Sam must have picked up a late injury.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭punk77

Mistake from Lees. 1 down :(

Jaysus. Down to 10 men. Austin sent off :(:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,024 ✭✭✭JokerD

Those wins against Burnley and Sheffield Wed look even better now. Wouldn't have fancied going to Watford needing a result with our inconsistency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,088 ✭✭✭fanzhiyidan

if we hadn't won those 2 games we would have been really consistent.
    consistently awful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,024 ✭✭✭JokerD

    1-1 pen Diouf......10 v 10 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭blaa85

I'm watching SSN and there are straight reds being handed out everywhere today

Brighton fans shouting ni*** at him etc and when he scored he stuck his finger up at them! I Don't blame him tbh.

Just looking at the table, lose next week and we could finish the season 1 point above a relegated team. Win, and we could be placed 10th. This league is nuts.

BMcD's post match interview with Eddie Gray:

Refreshingly honest and a stark contrast to some of the post match interviews of the Warnock era.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,024 ✭✭✭JokerD

Lots of players about that I think could be perfect for us and could be available, hope we get to work early in the market.

I would keep McCormack, Diouf and Byram. Thats all. I would give Ashdown a chance as no 1. I dont like Kenny. I think he has an attitude and I just dont think he is right for Leeds.

maybe keep Lees Poleon and Somma if he gets fit (unlikely unfoturnately)

Mc Dermot has his work cut out for him (understatement of the century, I know)

I wish the season would just end now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,024 ✭✭✭JokerD

I love the way he says he was embarrassed to be walking around at the end and how he wants to be walking around with a trophy.

I'm a big fan of McDermott, talks a lot of sense there.

Watching Mc Dermot's post match interview he comes across as being very honest and the loss hurt him. he really cares and more importantly he actually does care about what the fans think. I think he is the right man for Leeds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,024 ✭✭✭JokerD

Byram wins Fans POTY, Young POTY and Players' POTY at the end of season awards tonight.

Ross wins best goal for his goal against Spurs.

I agree but I really hope that our owners understand this and give him financial backing in the transfer market.
Without this backing I fear he will be another good manager in an impossible job. Another missed opportunity.
